A friend of mine (male) has donated bone marrow twice now, to the same girl, she lives in Germany, his blood/marrow cured her the 1st time, but sadly she got it about 8 years later, but he just donated again about 2months ago and the prognosis is very good for her :D

I'd love to be on the bone marrow register, and to give blood but I'm not allowed to do either (I'm neurological :o)

Do they manage to target the new intake at universities?
Surely that would be worthwhile for them.

I would ask my OH, but he's still cross at me for signing up to donate my organs after death. :o

Why is he mad about that? (genuine question)

OH is too old at 31 (32 on Sunday). And, as I have lived in the UK between set dates, I am not eligible to donate blood or bone marrow here, and no longer eligible to donate either in the UK either as I have lived abroad for more than 6 months.

Sooooo frustrating! The NL reasons are mad cow disease. Is there no way to test for this? If so, I would gladly pay for the test so that I can donate. I'm in good health, so it frustrates me that I am willing, but immediately excluded (though I understand their reasons).

I'm on the organ donor register, I wonder if my quirks affect that

Thought of a male friend in the UK, in that age category and have just pinged him about it and asked him to check it out. :)

Just signed up - not male though :) I'd been meaning to do it for ages.
    :hello:
  • Well I've printed off one of the Anthony Nolan posters and have asked my boss' PA if she will ask him if I can put it up in the canteen where hopefully it will get noticed by the young lads that work there.
