I am not scared of what I hear and sense because it has been there for so long. It used to scare me a great deal but as I got older I realised that the spirits couldn't hurt me.
I don't really see much, not as I see someone else who is living and breathing if that makes sense. It's very difficult to explain.
When my grandad was dying I was able to tell my mum things about who was waiting for him, things I would never have known. We were never close to my grandparents.
I told her that things I could hear were not in english and were in prussian, only to be told that some part of my grandads family were prussian. Just little things like that that I couldn't possibly know. There is no way of explaining them.
Of course I have had people tell me it is just my way of coping with losing those around me, I don't believe this to be true. I think everyone is born with the capability to communicate with spirits and most people lose it as they grow up. I'm a big believer that imaginary friends aren't quite so imaginary.0 -

That's another thing I didn't believe in before I saw it.
Bloody hell !! I would have fallen over in shock. My OH, who strictly does.not.believe. said there are animals that have become 'wild' that are large cats etc.., when people in the 70's and 80's used to keep 'big cats' before the legislation came in - or weren't able to care for them/escaped
hoping it was that!
what was the morphing thing? eek0 -

I was about 16 I think. Walking through a housing estate. I knew I was near to a house where there was a wake because our town was quite small then. I heard the Banshee and the hair on the back of my neck went up. I'd heard so much talk of it before, I even know what it really is, but that knowledge doesn't help you when you hear it. I didn't run though. Knowing what it was stopped me acting irrationally. I've never heard it since and I'm actually quite glad.
Mind you I used to have nightmares watching Darby O'Gill and the Little People. That depiction of a Banshee scares the carp out of me0 -

The morphing thing was so disturbing, I don't even want to discuss it tbh.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

ok, no probs0 -
Ha, all this talk of ghosts and I managed to scare myself when I used the office toilets. They have automatic sensor lights in each stall, and I must've walked too close to one as I walked over to the sink and it flickered on and gave me a fright! hahahaha
Maybe I shouldn't convince the OH that we need to watch Paranormal Activity 2 tonight! lolFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
whilst reading the other replies, ive remembered something else about my mums house, my son when he was younger used to stay over quite a bit and he had a thing about my mum and dads bedroom, he used to say there was a monster in there. He was only about 3 at the time, and first we thought it was his imagination then we thought maybe it was him seeing my mums dressing gown hanging on the door and he was half asleep, but he was adamant that it wasnt and a monster lived in their room. It wasnt until he went upstairs and started shouting my mum saying there was a man in her bed that we wondered if maybe he was seeing the old man and as all other times it had been night time or early morning so he wasn't fully awake that he hadnt recognised the 'monster' as a person.
My parents have never seen the old man, only heard him but my son never had a problem with any other room and has always happily slept in the room next to my parents that used to be mine without any problem.
He doesnt see anything now (i dont think) and as far as im aware my daughter who is now 3 has never seen anything, but it did strengthen my belief that the old couple were still there, the only thing I dont like is that I wonder if they are looking for each other(sorry im a real softy for a happy ending)
