I don't know. Both are just as bad as each other IMO.

It must be terrifying to have frequent hallucinations that seem real, as you can't then fully trust whether something you experience (at any given time) is real or not.

I think I'd prefer the ghosties option. I've never come to harm, and nor has anyone I know, thanks to a supposed ghost experience. And, if you believe in them, there are ways to get rid of said ghosties. I'm not sure there's much you can do about hallucinations without taking strong medication.

I love the dark, never have been afraid of it, even as a kid. The house where I grew up was down a little lane and surrounded by a wood. Could have been a real nightmare of a childhood if the dark had freaked me out.

DH on the other hand is terrified of the dark. He refused to stay overnight at my parents house till they moved a year or so ago. Our hallway is lit really well at night by a street lamp. DH has managed to scare himself witless before now walking along it and seeing his own shadow, screamed like a baby :rotfl:

I freely admit to being a bit scared of the dark. :p However, I do not believe in ghosts. There are enough real dangers out there.

when you say you're afraid of the dark, you mean who might be hiding in it? (humans, dogs etc..?)

It feels like being blind. I've *very* short sighted and use continuous wear contact lens to compensate. When it's truly dark then it's like having no lens/glasses. It makes me feel vulnerable. I remember doing a training exercise, a long time ago, in a DRIU. Had to take my lens out, no glasses allowed, could barely see any fuzzy shapes... and then they turned the spray on and couldn't see anything at all. Not being able to see *is* scary. End of.

If I was outside in the dark (as opposed to being at home) then, yes, I would be worried about humans and dogs but I'd be worried about them if it was daytime too. The normal wariness that most people have if a dog suddenly sounds very nearby or if a recent news story makes you paranoid about strangers lurking in alleyways. :p

Of course, when I say "dark", I mean pitch-black. If it's more... gloaming then you still have some vision.
  • I don't believe in ghosts etc but am still afraid of the dark! If I'm here on my own there has to be a light on. Not sure why!!

Not scared of the dark or spirits. Very much a believer in spirits. I do sense/hear them all the time. I love it lol.

If you are a believer no proof is neccesary, if you are a dis believer no proof will ever be enough. - Very true words.
