  • Did you see the item on I think the one show on running style. How naturally in bare feet ( which I much prefer) we land on the ball of our feet, but with trainers we land heel first and we should revert to natural ball of the foot first style to minimise injury to knees etc.

Ok I admit it I have been subscribed to your wonderful thread for quite a while now.

What has made me come out of the shadows you ask

"in order to prepare for any trips on the undulating pavements I had to adopt a different running style, one that gave me most scope for balance with arms outstretched and high leg lifts landing onto flat feet - somewhat remeniscent of how Super Mario gets about in all the Nintendo games"

That and the comment about long hair and borrowed P.E. kit (i have images of white t-shirt nylon shorts and black socks and plimsoles) very 1970's.

I was drinking coffee at the time and I have now just returned from the kitchen with a cloth to wipe the monitor and the keyboard before the coffee dries:tongue:

Have to admit the comment about matchbox size cheese has hit a nerve with me as well, that is my poision.
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Was first in line at the barber's this morning and don't look like a clown anymore - at least according to my daughter. The Bloaters successfully negiotated Bluewater without too much expense - kids got some stuff with money from their grandparents - I attained my Zen-like trance whilst pushing the boy in his buggy around the entire complex a couple of times when the ladies were in Next, and managed to stock up on cod liver oil and some other thing I can't pronounce which seem to be stopping my knees from giving out with all this running. Have an ambitious plan for tomorrow - an 8k Sunday special - depending on how I am feeling at 4k I either soldier on triumphiantly up a horrible hill and do an extra 4k loop, or chicken out and shamefully plod the 1k home from that point. Hope its the former, and I won't beat myself up if I have to walk some of it. Am certainly not indulging in any wine or bad stuff tonight - chicken pasta and tap water will be all I have. Only blot on the horizon is headaches, sniffles and a general lethargy - might be coming down with something due to all these early mornings...

I only do that at work thanks (HR Manager, think Green Wing, not Dinner Ladies )

WTG on the debts and weight loss. I bypassed the Lindemans, wasn't keen on it so we have the fairtrade rose merlot also on offer.

And there was me thinking you were 'Flipper's' twin;)

Our Netto's having a closing down sale - they have Echo Falls for £2.99HSwhistle.gif

WTG on the 5K Mr B!

Yeah I believe there are now ultra slim soled running shoes for this very reason. My h runs on tippy toes and although he looks slightly comical it's better for your joints. Well done on 5k :T

  • Brrr! I know something's up when the rest of the family are saying it's warm and I'm chilly - my wife and offspring love to be bundled up all warm and cosy and have cold chilly hands and feet - whereas hotheaded old me lives in short sleeves, hasn't owned a jumper for a decade and thinks coats should only be worn in daylight hours when there are Arctic conditions. Thus, as I am the one shivering here and the kids have gone to bed without a mountain of quilts upon them, I have to face up to the fact that I ain't too chipper. Not sure how this is going to effect the planned 8k although I have a sneaking suspicion it is not going to help matters...
