Gardening and Shed Tetris proved a bit beyond the limits of the underpar Bloater. I've developed a real mental block about the record collection, maybe cos the main box of albums is right in the back corner of the shed under a pile of other boxes and will take a complete shed re-engineering to retrieve. The other thing bugging me is the postage - I'm going to have to spend money upfront to buy the packaging to post the records and deal with post office staff. I know it's worth it for the potential goldmine I could be sitting on but at the moment it just seems a step too far, Hopefully with Christmas approaching I'll be able to see the wood for the trees. Mrs B is worried that I'm selling stuff I will regret later on, but it's just music, the format is irrelevant I'm not precious about these things - just thankful that when I was a teenager growing up in Brighton I had the foresight to be into bands who sold very few records but years later were acclaimed as being very influential - hence the stupid prices that some of the discs are going for. Back in those days a potential cold would be averted by a bottle of Scotch and 40 Marlboro - vitamins and zinc is somewhat less fun but does lessen the chance of arrest (both cardiac and legal). Got to really ramp up the moneysaving next week it's kinda been overshadowed by the fatloss. Mrs B has also done brilliantly and has lost half a stone in the time I've been doing this diary.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Your doing well and while I agree what you mean about shed tetris, it's worth it.
As for postage, I print all my postage straight from paypal, that way it comes out of the payment and what gets transferred is mine to keep. Also means I can just drop it off at the PO rather than queuing paying etc.You have to start to finish.

Mr B, have you considered having a stall at a record fair? It's fairly easy for me as a couple of lovely blokes have set up a regular record and book fair quite close to here. I wonder if there's something similar close to you? Or a vintage and retro fair? Did you keep any memorabilia, ticket stubs, t shirts, set lists, that sort of thing as that kind of ephemera is fetching excellent prices. Even if you got a bit less from the dealers at the record fair, at least it's money in your pocket and they're storing it.
I would start by finding space in the house to get it out of the back of the shed though, you'll have to imagine my worried expression about the phrase "back of the shed under other stuff".‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Re: growing veg, our garden is small. We just have a raised bed for growing veg attached to the shed so only about 3ft by 6ft. This year we had a huge amount of courgettes just from two plants. I was having to meal plan around what we could add courgettes too. You've mentioned spag bol or lasagne a few times, courgettes would be ideal to bulk it out with fewer calories.
My children love to grow podding peas as they pick them and eat them raw.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -

Growing veg is definitely a great plan, but has Mr B picked the wrong time of year? I'm not sure what grows in Autumn/Winter....any MSE-ers got any suggestions? I only grow summer-cropping veg myself (peppers, spinach, carrots, tomatoes etc), so I'm not sure.
Well done on the combined weight loss Mr and Mrs B!0 -
