301k in debt and morbidly obese - things aren't great!

Today's the acid test methinks - woke up to find another 2lb weight gain putting pretty much back where I was, a virtually sleepless night due to the boy, a million and one admin things to do, kids screaming they wanted to go to the beach, and the realization I'm back at work tomorrow. I feel like shoving my sunny disposition where it can't ever shine again.
But then, Mrs B is now on board with Quidco - anything that says cashback and Boden in the same sentence is music to her ears. She also cooked up an inordinate amount of bolognese and we now have various lasanges and other things (cooking is not my speciality) all tupperwared up ready to be frozen, she's taking back some clothes she bought at Bluewater (or to be more accurate, she and the kids will stand in a corner laughing as I red-faced attempt to exchange stuff outside the time limit and keep mentioning my wife in case the store assistants think I'm some cross-dresser), and she even checked online to see if there were any Starbucks/Costa codes. There weren't, but at least she's looking.
Also found an old National Savings book last updated in 2004 with 30ish quid in it, will have to send that off to get the updated interest and then cash it in, so things are still moving in the right direction.
And I know I know I know I shouldn't weigh myself every day, but I'm an obssessive kinda guy so I can't stop - I'd rather take the dramatic highs and lows than the moribund wait for the weekly weigh-in. That ain't my idea of fun.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Mr B - if you can't stop weighing yourself, then at least put the numbers in excel and draw a graph so you can see the trend over time. And get the food diary sorted out so you know what you're eating, there are lots of free food diary websites around if you want one that works out the calories and nutritional value for you.0

How about you cut down the weighing to every other day to start with then build it up so eventually its only once a week:) You wont notice then the days you weigh 'heavier' and only ever weigh yourself first thing in the morning:)
I did the whole 'fatclub' thing a few years ago - still get mail from them:mad: stopped because I couldnt stand being hissed at through pursed lips by some ex fattie with cankles that I had put on quarter of a pound:mad:;the way the queue had to pass by the table set out with cardboard packets full of even more cardboard and books with tasteless recipes in;the mindless pep talk -
No. cutting up a 'fat club' mint flavoured cardboard crispy bar into 8 pieces does NOT come anywhere near being the same as eating After £ight Mints on Christmas Day;
the fact that 'fat club' ready meals dont actually have any points in them cos thay are all POINTLESS and the biggest con of all the secret to losing weight is not handing over your precious money every week and being a slave to the scales it is in fact EAT LESS, MOVE MORE:)
I was asked,by she of the pursed lips, at the last meeting I went to,if I would share with the group what I had done to help me lose weight - think it was because I did actually lose weight and didn't really say anything at meetings - so I siezed the moment and told them about my ELMM diet - I ate FULL FAT everything - yes even milk, had gone back to weekly swimming sessions, took the stairs not the lift and parked at the furthest end of the car park - cheaper than 'fat club' at which point I left of course:rotfl:
Sorry I seemed to have hijacked your thread to have a rant :embarasse I do realise that 'fat clubs' do great things and have had friends do really well and needed that weekly gathering - it just wasnt for me and I realised I was doing my own ELMM thing quite happily. Also TBH I think the group itself wasnt particularly appealing.:oHowever I have not been to any others and dont feel the need.ELMM works just fine:rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hi Mr. B just delurking to say that you can do this with my mortgage and my CC card debt at 89K at its highest our debt was well over 300K and as you will see from my sig I lost quite a bit of weight last year CC debt is now below 16K and total debt below 260K its a long slog though with many highs and lows but the folk on here are great celebrating the highs and getting you through the lows.
As to weighing yourself I used to weigh twice a day when I was losing weight and still weigh myself a few times a week now so you just have to do what you have to do.
Good to see your OH is on board that will make such a difference and the children will get used to the new spending regime easier than you think its you that will feel guilty at least that is how I am whilst they will be fine
Wishing you an ever downward path with the weight and the debt

Sorry to hijack your thread as well, Mr B, but :T :T :T :T :T to you Igamogam - what you said is so true! I think I will be taking a leaf from your book. *Peers round for her exercise DVDs*0 -
The attempted return at M&S didn't go down too successfully - with tears in my eye I spoke in hushed tones to the assistant that "my wife bought this, but never got the chance to wear it, could I exchange it so I can get some clothes for the kids". The assistant couldn't have been more happier as she told me a) one of the tags was missing b) even if the tag wasn't missing the dress had gone down in price from £79 to £15.
The day hasn't really got any better. Plus I'm getting really paranoid that I'm about to be caught on here by the family.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

My girl had her friend round who has the complete collection of Morrisons Disney cards and gave her all her spares which was lovely except I then spent the next hour organising them and filling in the gaps, but when the first card you need is A1 and you ain't got A1 you know that no matter if all the other gaps are filled the first one is missing it kinda takes away the joy. Anyway, the donations helped a lot and my daughter's left with about 10 gaps -
Which are U missing we have loads and my LO isn't bothered about them at all .....Sealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j0 -
Mr B, who is into these Disney cards more - DD or you? :rotfl:
Relax about it - one won't make too much of a difference and she'll get it eventually by hook or by crook!0 -
Ooh I don't come here very often (well only to check out Wordsmiths diary really as I love her prose) so what's the Matrix please?
Mr B, I echo what another poster said, it will probably work out cheaper to get your grocery shopping on line and meal plan.
Also, look what your Council has to offer re weightloss and fitness. Up here in the North various Councils have activities (called different things but ususally the words 'Fit' and 'Active' are in there somewhere) where you get ridiculously cheap gym visits and free Slimming World for 12 weeks.
Someone told me recently that our weight can fluctuate by 3lbs a day so I wouldn't get too het up about that either.0 -
