*Wanders in and looks round* H'mmm lots of familiar faces here. I like it!

In all seriousness, I like your attitude. As KC (aka KarmaCat) says, don't be afraid to vent your feelings on here. It makes a lot of difference to be able to let go in a way you can't in the real world where you are 'putting on' a positive face.

We are a varied bunch over on Matrix thread. I'm not actually in debt now so am really an interloper  but I have been and, living in retirement on an income which has been eroded by the credit crunch - a curse on all bankers to the 7th generation.

    May their years be diminished.

I'd better stop there ;) but you might like to see what an Archbishop of Glasgow said - here

    We'll get there. Together.

  • Brilliant diary - subscribed, thanks. Always look on the bright side of life, da da da da da!

Thanks for self service coin tip.

Laughed at your vasectomy story. Reminded me of a time I was trying to comfort a bloke having a vasectomy. In attempt to relax him I asked him what he did for a living. I daren't tell you he said .... eventually this voice squeaked.... I'm a tax inspector.... the surgeon booms, young man I have your balls in one hand and a scapel in the other... the temptation.... LOL. Still makes me titter everytime I think of it!

Good luck with everything, onwards and upwards.

Not a particularly successful day on either the debt front or the chub front - although I didn't spend anything so that was something.

My girl had her friend round who has the complete collection of Morrisons Disney cards and gave her all her spares which was lovely except I then spent the next hour organising them and filling in the gaps, but when the first card you need is A1 and you ain't got A1 you know that no matter if all the other gaps are filled the first one is missing it kinda takes away the joy. Anyway, the donations helped a lot and my daughter's left with about 10 gaps - which'll likely never be filled as the promotion ends tomorrow and about 150 spare cards. Maybe I could sell them? Anyway, the frustration was compounded, when after handing her the almost finished album she declared that Disney was rubbish and why couldn't she have Hello Kitty cards.

I then persuaded my really reluctant family that a nice walk would be good for us and after dragging their feet interminably getting ready we finally got out - I had a lovely route mapped out with loads of houses we could pass comment on and feel better about ourselves, but the only highlight was my girl in a true Outnumbered style diatribe standing outside the detached house at the end of our road that's been in the process of being done up for the last 3 years, the family have only just moved in the last couple of weeks, stating really loudly "that's a rubbish house, they were supposed to make that house look nicer but they haven't, it just looks rubbish" which whilst accurate, probably isn't the sort of thing you want to hear on a sunny afternoon. At least the witchcraft accusations were absent today. Family walk was then curtailed much to the joy of the wife and the boy by the girl needing to pay a visit, so we marched back home after 8 minutes.

Am loving the advice and support on this thread, it is much appreciated, as was the Scottish rant which encapsulates exactly how I feel about my sister-in-law.

Good evening Mr B. I really like you posts and updates but a word of caution: neither the debt nor the weight go fast or, for that matter, continuously. To cope with either one needs the psyche of a long distance runner - you do your bit regularly, patiently and without the expectation of immediate reward. And if you have been good for a long time, and have changed all your bad habits be these about money or food and exercise, you may see result. Keep going and you may end up having the body of a Greek God and the purse of a Babylonian king.

This is the way I see it and do it - by the the time I am finished I'll look like Julia Roberts and be wealthy as...well as anything.

Good luck to you and let's keep talking.

just a quick update have now joined Quidco which appears to be the done thing around here. Trouble is, I have no idea how to use it - looking for RAC policy it appears to offer me money to take out policies that don't involve roadside assistance which err, is kinda the whole point of the RAC. Or am I just doing it wrong?

Your diary has made me chuckle, I'll be following you. I've found I've lost weight since I started tackling my debts purely because I resent spending 55p on a chocolate bar. If only this had struck me years before.
    Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.
    O/D £500. Weight loss: 12/28lbs :o Savings owed [STRIKE] £3000 [/STRIKE] now £2250 :( Total debt: [STRIKE] £6760 [/STRIKE] now £5440

Yes that is the beauty of quidco, and also other cash back sites like topcashback, they give you money back for things you would buy anwyway!

Ref the RAC in particular there will be several headings all for RAC, one of these will be the roadside assistance, the other will be for other products the RAC now offer.

good luck with both of your journeys. and especially good luck with getting the rest of the family onside. It will be hard at times especially when they realise that actually they CAN'T have x y z things they usually have....

And I second another persons suggestion about buying Boden on ebay. Why pay the full price for clothes?
