Hello Mr B, welcome to the DFW boards. My OH had his 'bits' done when it was Children in Need day, his was under local anesetic (a real man) a nurse dressed up as a clown popped her head round the door and as the doc had just clamped everything OH laughed and everything shot back up inside!!! Doc was not impressed.

dug out some DVDs that I never have and never will watch and scanned them in on musicmagpie - am so wowed by the fact I can scan in barcodes like my own little checkout that the fact they are only paying me 30p each clouds into insignificance.
:rotfl:me, too!
Good luck with your challenge.
Also good suggestion on the self pay tills, will use that with the childrens tubs at christmas.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Have 2 solid reasons for not going out for a run this morning: kids are up but Mrs B is in bed suffering from the (deservedly half price) rose wine we'd had sitting in the fridge for weeks. Plus it is tipping down.
But the real reason is that I am petrified the vasectomy stitches are gonna split open and my god I've probably just ruined someone else's breakfast.
Have to make the most of the remaining holiday time we have and that doens't involve any more time in hospital.
Am down to 23stone 4 already so it's all moving in the right direction.
Hi MrB, well done on joining the team! Now you can go on the Wii there'll be no stopping you!**Debt Free as of 15:55 on Friday 23rd March 2012**And I am staying that way

Don't ask me why but when I read the title I thought "somebody's taking the p**s here" but my curiosity always gets the better of me so I read on.
Great attitude you have and I am loving the sense of humour. I had never thought about the self service tills taking bags of coins. Thanks for that one

Mrs B decided that the kids needed Pizza Hut for dinner - and with the £5 per adult and kids eat free vouchers I was brandishing I wasn't going to argue - £10 for a meal out is good progress for the family B. Upon hitting Bluewater and queuing for a while at T'Hut - the waitress told the family in front of us that the restaurant was running out of salad - which would have kinda spoiled the unlimited salad we were planning on having, so instead we wandered over to where salad would be the stuff of a madman's dreams - and chowed down on McDonalds - kids were happy they got Scottish Smurfs (these apparently are good things) in their happy meals, and miserly old me was happy cos the total for the 'meal' was £9.06.
Spent a fair amount of time plugging insurance details into moneysupermarket, gocompare, aviva and directline - and it looks like privilege or directline (who appear to be the same entity) are the best bet for chopping a 100 or so off the insurance, can't for the life of me fathom out how to do the multicar thing tho. I think the morning will make things clearer.
Most important thing done today tho was a paperwork organisation - the drawer stuffed full of important stuff was emptied and organised to within an inch of its life, I now actually know when policies are up, what customer numbers I have and all manner of important stuff - its taking forever but am really feeling like I'm getting in control of things now.
Am holding off on posting up a SOA at the moment, I've gleaned so much from reading stuff on MSE that I want to exhaust all my avenues first, and then throw myself open to new suggestions.
And as for the getting back in shape, its not going to be quick - it should be in theory as to maintain this amount of weight takes a helluva lot of calories, but I have yet to train myself away from temptation completely, with wife and kids not having to be on a weightloss odyssey there is always stuff in the cupboards that can be nibbled upon.
Off now to make the Wii Fit balance board wish it's limit was 23-3.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Hi Mr B.
Great sense of humourI too am a cash is king fan, but if I'm 'holding folding' there is a feeling of wild abandon about me!
Will follow your progressDC.

Have to temper the feelings of wild abandon today - day after Mrs B's payday, got the folks up to hang out with the kids this morning and we're off to a romantic rendevous at Tesco. I'm armed with a 13quid off £90spend voucher but this is gonna be the acid test of our new found austerity - I've often walked out of there with a 200quid bill wondering what the hell we've bought for dinners, whereas this time round we're going to try and a fortnights shopping for under a hundred.
A couple of things that illustrate the stupidity of our debt is that I've been putting off for ages getting new tyres for Mrs B's car - cos it was too high a one-off cost, which meant (cos the tyres are pretty much bald) that for the last few weeks we've been using my car which is far more uneconomical for everything. Plus for the last couple of months I've been putting off paying an outstanding nursery bill - have done both those things this morning and feel a better person for it.
15 minutes on the Wii Fit this morning, down to 23-3 so 6 pounds less than when I started all this at the start of the week, and a clearer conscience. If we come back from Tesco still saintly I shall be a happy chubby bunny.2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)

Hey there! Welcome to diaryland sounds like you are off to a good start! I know what you mean about putting things off which end up costing more in the long run I was exactly the same. Now anything important goes out on the 5th of every month DDebit and anything else goes into an envelope with what it's for written on it anything then left over we can have - it works for us anyway:):jNov 2012 - Loan £1200, CC1 £1450
CC2 £1300, CC3 £100
Next £200
I will get rid!!!!

£160 lighter after the shop but we did get probably three weeks worth instead of two. First time in years its just been myself and Mrs B at the supermarket - without the distraction of the kids I was adding up as we went along and it certainly made us resist temptation - although having survived for 39 years without buying rice wine vinegar I was somewhat surprised to learn that we needed it now. Managed to get 15 quid off through vouchers and a lot more saved by utilising the BOGOF offers.
Old habits do die hard though, and it was only the hailstones that prevented us going into the car dealers next door to the supermarket - we are both petrolheads and already know which car we want next, and they had a shiny new one in the colour we want just parked outside waiting for us....
I have to play a fine balancing act - keeping upbeat about the whole situation otherwise the household will plummet into gloom, but I have to exercise some restraint cos the situations (both weight and debt) are serious. So it's all about keeping the dreams and aspirations alive, but looking longterm to a debtfree future.
Off to catch the rest of Final Score - my boys can go top of the Championship if (a highly unlikely sequence of) results go our way....2011: 301k in debt and morbidly obese (DFW)
