Sat here with my faithful mug of tea reflecting on a very Sundayish Saturday - am having an early night again because tomorrow's exercise routine is vital. I can feel those little nagging self-doubts whispering into my subconscious, and I don't want them becoming a roar.

I've now got a matching jacket and trousers to wear to work on Monday, the chin is scabbing over nicely, money seems pretty sorted for this month and next month is looking pretty good too; weight and debt are both subtly falling.

This is probably when I am at my most dangerous.

I can't afford to be complacent and so I ploughed on and managed to get a total of 55 items listed - more out of a sense of wanting to break my longstanding aversion to ebay rather than any sense of thinking they will get me much money. They are all low value items that can just be automatically relisted upon non-sale. I have decided not to put any more stuff on there because basically I won't have the time to post / deal with buyers until mid-Feb, so will hopefully plan to have a whole lot of items ending just before halfterm starts.

It feels like this is the longest consistent run of taking the exercise and the debt seriously that I have had over the duration of this diary and I'm desperate for it to continue.

I'm really nervous that it won't continue - hopefully by letting it out in public I've uncorked the bad genie and it'll !!!!!! off somewhere else.
  • Well Done Mr B. :T You're doing very well and putting me to shame with my lack of exercise. You're really inspiring me with your posts of the last few weeks. Wait, scrub the beer and the red wine, grab your faithful mug of tea instead. :rotfl:

You've done well getting that many items listed on ebay. I couldn't motivate myself to do anything today. :o Although DW has spent about 4 hours listing items.

I'm not sure how you manage to get up that early. About 8 years ago I would get up about 5am and have 2 mile run before work.

I was going to say don't overdo it but perhaps I had better say, try and get a healthy balance.

Keep going and you will achieve your goals.

    The other Mr B. :)

Am pleased to report that the post-exercise mug of tea is here with me at the PC. Restless night - likely because I went to bed too early.

Mixed it up a bit today and did the Abs/Squats before the run (7.1km). Took me 10 minutes to get to 40 situps but it was worth it. I know a few wise old souls on here (most recently ani26 - thanks for the brilliant links to the HIIT stuff) have urged me to seek alternative workouts but I have to stick with what works for me for now - it's a nightmare and I hate it but I have to admit it is already making me less bloated. I'm not expending brain energy thinking about how to do it, just how to get through it. Not sure if that makes any sense - but basically I would love to do Yoga but it takes me so long to try and get into the poses that any relaxation benefit has long since gone as I scream blue murder at the book / DVD / website with some flexible person who can bend things that don't even move on me.

Moneysaving today will consist of continuing to break up the required purchases into £20 chunks and getting the £5 off each time at the Co-Op, which should at the very least knock 25% off our bill this month.

Have to also do my tax return now I have all the required usernames / activation codes although having looked at my P45 & P60 I'm pretty sure I fall under the threshold of paying back any CB.

Calling Sky from work on Monday (cos it's a premium number) to downgrade or cancel. The main argument against the Netflix/DNS combo was the lack of Disney Channel, well thankfully Sky themselves have come to my rescue with their NOW TV box including Disney for £4.99 a month. Seeing as I'm paying out £63 a month at the moment I'll happily cut that down to £15 or so and have a mixture of platforms. Will double check with some more learned folk than myself but it seems feasible.

And thanks to the person who PM'd me a very interesting job prospect - location went against it unfortunately. I did try PM'ing back but your account was blocked.

One I used to throw into runs(sadly due to injuries I cant run anymore :( )
I used to use street furniture where possible along the run.
So for example I would run round Arthurs seat. At every bench I got to,I would do 20(or less as the run went on!) bench dips

Mr B, remember that Coop are only issuing the £5 off vouchers until the 14th Jan and then they have to be redeemed by 28th. Sorry if you already know that.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • You'll need quite a bit of time to call Sky. I called them about three months ago to cancel. They don't want to take no for an answer.
I spent 30 minutes on the phone before they finally cancelled it. They tried all the usual stuff about you are entitled to a box upgrade. If that's the case, why wait until you are about to leave.

Then they try and sell you their broadband and landline.

All in all, very frustrating. I wish you well in your quest to conquer Sky and wait to see if they try and sell you anything. :)

MrB. as you don't appear to have an 'all-inclusive' call package with 0845 & 0871 included, have you thought of installing 'WeQ4U' on your mobile ?. It is a brilliant app as it traps the 08x number before the phone dials it and instead dials an 03 number (included in your 'free monthly minutes') before sending the 08x number.
The call goes via their system, so is free.

If you want to save on your home phone when calling 08x numbers, you can still use their service by dialing 0333 5432111 followed by the number you are wanting to dial.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

Mug of tea is somewhat later today (as in about 16 hours later) as it was the first day back of work, and first day in my new role. Considered wafting into the allocated parking spaces for the illuminati but decided instead to park my barge down with the common folk. It was a good day. Managed a 6.4km trundle this evening but haven't yet done battle with Sky or my tax return. Both will be done this week.
