  • Ended the year on a positive mental high which somehow always seem to equate to intense bonecrunching physical agony - however, the target has been met and another 7.8km trundle this morning took my December total flying past the target and landing on 102.3km. And managed day 2 of the 30 day Ab and Squat challenges. Am buzzing - even the fact I've managed to put on a shocking 0.4kg of weight hasn't really spoiled the party. Have yet to check the fence but I am sure it is up, and if it isn't - I have the tools to rebuild it again. I think this fence is all getting a bit too metaphorical.

I really doubt that it's "proper" weight gain - if your muscles are sore then it's almost guaranteed to be water weight. I ALWAYS put on 2-4 lbs if I've worked out in ways that give me sore muscles (usually different exercises, or when I've been lazy and not done any workout for a while). I'd bet that it will just disappear over then next week.

MrB. you need to remember that muscles weigh more than fat, so as you build up your muscular physique you will gain a small amount of weight in the process.

Well, that's the new year started in the same manner as the old one ended: another 7.8km plod, plus my daily torture on the Abs and Squats. Feel better for it and have to remember to go back to these posts when I'm feeling the blues.
On the moneysaving front I noticed a real change in me yesterday - found an old Game giftcard and as we were out yesterday we popped in to find if it had any vlue - it contained a fiver. We;d been talking about getting the kids another game for the console and instead of putting the voucher money towards a game I decided that the voucher money would be the game - but then I thought more and was agonizing about whether to spend a pound of the voucher on this particular secondhand game which they might have liked but in the end walked out with nothing. Now cutting spending on myself is easy, aside from the wine (had a totally dry New Years Eve by the way) I'm actually pretty darn cheap, my achilles heel has always been getting things for the littlies - so if I can walk away from a games store with a five pound voucher intact despite finding something suitable for a quid then I think that's progress.

Woke up late and grumpy. 4.7km trudged reluctantly. No abs, no squats, no banking, no tracking of my finances and no updating of my spreadsheet. I am a creature of habit and need my morning routine. It's days like this that would usually throw me off track, so today's success will have to be measured by whether I'm back on here tomorrow banging on about my usual blah.

    Hello Mr Bloater,

First time posting on your fabulous diary!

Just wanted to say hooray to you for getting out there walking this morning even though you didn't want to. That is seriously impressive!

I look forward to seeing your post tomorrow saying you are back on track - because you have so comprehensively proven here that you can do exactly that!

    Cheers,
