I've just realised I can't find the Christmas card postal collection. Extreme MSE? Actually feel quite down that no cards will get sent. Torn between the bahhumbug attitude of DH, and my love of family.

One of my friends never sends cards. This year plenty of people won't be getting one from me simply because I ran out of oomph. I am, however, emailing a Christmas newsletter round as many unfortunates as I can find emails for. :D

I don't see why people have to get a card to feel loved. After all we recycle or bin the cards not so long after Christmas. If it worries you, though, just post the cards anyway. Some are always late!

  • I don't give cards to anyone who I can say "merry christmas" to. Not really sure I see the point of them to be honest... does that make me miserable? Not sure.

Mrs B made some spectacular homemade sausage rolls this afternoon which was cool, festive, and MSE all rolled into one.

Did our monthly spreadsheet - details later but the headlines are that for the first month since we started this ALL of our debts (inc loans, overdrafts and credit cards) are down on last month. Which is rather good. Total headline debt stat is now a trim 288.5k rather than the 301.5k it was back 4 months ago.

This surely is a cause for a bottle of red wine and thankfully - cos nobody ever has any clue what to get me for Christmas - red wine aplenty is around.

    Have a lovely Christmas MrB:xmastree:

  • Found the courage to stand on the scales of justice for the first time since (shamefully) the 16th November. And so, can present, for the last time this year, and almost certainly the last time in this format - the Bloater stats for this month.

    [FONT=&quot]Mr Bloater's Stats Blast Month 4 (23rd November - 23rd December)

    Total debt
    Was: £295.5k
Is: £288.5k (figure totally skewed by our salaries arriving early this month before a lot of payments are taken out - but it still looks very nice)

    Credit Card debt
    Was: £48.1k
    Is: £46.8k

    Loan debt
    Was: £23.7k
    Is: £22.5k

    Overdraft

    Was: £3.8k
Is: £0.02k (only 27quid into overdraft at the moment - that won't last!)

    Mortgage
    Was: £219.7k
    Is: £219.1k

    Weight

    Was: Too Scared to look
    Is: 23-00. (BMI 39.17)

Having looked through ALL the thread last night and this morning I've been able to pinpoint exactly where it all started going wrong on the running - the hassles at work, the fall, the encounters with local characters, the inconvenience of getting up at a stupid hour were all factors - but the final death knell was eBay. This gave my statistic-obssessed mind something else to dwell on - and as it related to real money it was more useful to me than numbers on a scale.

For the next four months I need to get a better balance - there is no fear factor in selling online anymore, and I am way more efficient at it now than when I first started, and I am the sort of person who needs targets.

So my target for the next 4 months is to lose 2 stone and gain 2 grand.
Weight loss should be the easy part - get back into running and stop the wine.
Gaining 2 grand will take more thought - eBay is the obvious, plus Kindle, plus anything else I can turn my hand to.

Will update signature etc later. Thanks for coming.

that is a great idea. I need to lose two stone as well. And saving 2 grand wouldn't be so bad either. Must think about how I am going to do this.
Wishing you and all the Bloater family a very merry xmas,

  • Any other takers for Chev N' Bloater's Two Stone Two Grand Challenge? Maybe it's deserving of its own thread?
  • Would love to lose 2 stone but saving 2 grand is out of the question at the moment.
