I don't work for the DWP and hence don't enter data into their systems. That error was written by one of our governments high quality employees ;)

A very pedantic complaint however :D

The majority of DWP staff aren't civil servants any more. The poor sod that can't spell 'work' most probably works for HP ;)

  • So you have no job, but were at work when the letter came?

I had a job at the start of this month which only lasted three weeks. The only reason I had time to get the letter at all was a RM employee set it aside so it would not be returned. :)

I hope you didn't rant to your employer about how shit this country is ;)

  • Just being totally serious for a second here. Any indication I would not take a position as a juror seriously was expressed with a level of sarcasm which should have been easily detectable. I have no idea why some of you seem to have taken it so seriously. :)

Sarcasm can be difficult, especially if you're not used to a poster's style. You've got to calm the 'this country's rubbish!' comments down a bit. They're yawn yawn yadda yadda and usually posted by stupid people. I get the impression (from later posts) you're anything but stupid.

No, I used to be a positive optimistic person belive it or not, and it's not just one or two events which have got me this way. Many years have just given me a great dislike of this country as a whole.

Many other countries are similarly daft or celebrity obsessed, the reason I dislike us to much is most Brits arrogantly think we're the best ting since sliced bread. We are far from it.

I always treat individuals as individuals. I am also always optimistic and upbeat at interviews and work, even if inside I know I'm only being interview so someone else can meet a quota. :rotfl:

Spelling the word work correctly would help firstly!

In fairness it is JCP staff who type those, not the person claiming, so maybe directing your comment to them would be better :)

Well, I can empathise with all of that. But it doesn't make me hate this country. They're not the only things we're about - it's all a question of perspective. I can't help but think that if you had a great job, and you had other fulfilling things in your life, that you'd feel more positive about everything, including this country.

I went for a walk today somewhere further along the coast. I was in a really good mood - I've got a lovely husband, I'm where I want to be in life, the sun was shining. I genuinely thought there's no more beautiful place to be than a wonderful English fishing village on a sunny summer's day :)

Even if you did get excused this time it would more than likely only be a deferral and you would be in the same position in a few weeks.
Unless you have mental problems, are on bail or served a prison sentence will you be excused permanently ...take your pick.

    "Jury Duty"? "Citation"?

You sure you're in the UK?

I would love to do Jury Service, but have never been called. Even my husband (not born in the UK) has been called, but I haven't.

    I'll be too old soon!
