Get process explorer - it's like a more detailed version of device manager and see what is hogging your cpu .

Have tried but it won't even download that. I was on the phone to Orange for ages and he couldn't sort it out - it won't even do the broadband speed test. It is taking about 1-2 min for a page to load. I just can't understand what has happened to it.
I have run another full scan but it says no threats detected, which is why I wanted to try the Malwarebytes, but can't:mad:
Perhaps the processor is just dying?Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I'm trying to download Malwarebytes again, says it is going to take nearly half an hour, which seems a bit excessive. Will probably end up just getting the error message again.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

If you go into bios/setup when the pc starts can you change pages in there, not settings - trying to work out if hardware or software/windows fault.0 -

Is it Kaspersky Internet Security or Anti Virus and which version are you running, 2010 and 2011 did cause problems with some users computers running XP, it is free to update to the latest version 2012, do a clean install, download and save to desktop then remove the old version saving the licence key when it asks you, follow the instructions here.
