Fray Bentos pie vent!

  • My OH is (or now was!) a big fan of Fray Bentos pies and I didn't mind them every now and again as they're quite a quick easy dinner with some vegetables and mash! Anyway, last night we had a steak and ale one and as he was eating his half, he came across a kind of small hollow hard tube with another little bit attached. He thought it's from the cow's throat perhaps.

I was about to phone them a few minutes ago to complain, so looked at the bottom of the packaging for the phone number when I noticed it says 'although every effort is made to remove all bones, some may remain.' So I'm assuming it must be a common issue? Didn't bother phoning after I read that as they probably won't do anything about it. I don't expect it to be the most top quality meat but you don't want bits like that in your food  Horrible...
OMG !!! that is so vile, please, you should have complained, i have heard since the british company took over, the quality is scandalous...

    Fray Bentos are garbage pies...

If I'm going to eat a meat pie then I'd rather have quality.

I have yet to try one seeing as i have never eaten meat from childhood till 5 yrs ago, i don't eat much, mostly chicken breast, but since imperial foods took over fray bentos i have heard so many complaints about quality, robbing greedy british..

If thats the case you'll be getting Mad Cows in your pie rather than arteries...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

My kids would eat Nemo if you gave them a fire and a stick.

So would my two if you gave them a gas hob or a microwave. (they're resolutely city kids, especially the second one).
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

    Ooops

I got my younger son on to the Fray Bentos Pies cos I love the gravy and pastry.

He would eat one on his own if I wasn't about

Ok we al know they don't have a great meat content but some of us prefer to ignore that when the mash and beans taste great too.

As we all know a lot of stuff goes into food that 60 years ago your parents or grandparents were eating. Just because it's not top grade it doesn't mean it's bad for you and I would hazard a guess - wont kill you.
