I am the same - I don't even like to eat the skin on chicken legs. Although if there was a war on, we would be eating all the yukky bits without a second thought. I think they used to say that with pigs, "You can eat everything but the squeak".0

I guess if you eat products with mechanically recovered meat your bound to get some other bits.0

Yeh, it can gross you out - but that is part of being a meat eater. They will put everything that possibly can into these sorts of foods as it is cheaper. The only way to make sure your steak pie really is steak is to buy a steak and put that in a pie0

"lips and a*seholes" to quote a famous phrase, on the making of hotdogs.
That's why tinned pies are so cheap.
It's all edible at the end of the day, and they taste good.0 -
get the voucher if they offer it and give it to a friend who may need it, ( the one you dont like very much )
I'll maybe email them tomorrow (only remember there being a free phone number on the tin so will try their website) but seriously don't want a voucher for any more of their pies for me or anyone I know! :Pfluffnutter wrote: »These tubes are common in meat products, particularly cheaper ones. You've no cause for complaint - they won't hurt you. Although I agree they're not the most attractive parts of the animal to eat...
I'm sure they wouldn't unless you choked on it or something! It was really hard though, surely they should be more careful? Me too, I'm quite fussy about chicken near the bones as that's where you seem to get the horrible veiny bits. Even if I buy chicken breasts I spend ages cutting anything like that off and end up with hardly anythng left!Yeh, it can gross you out - but that is part of being a meat eater. We were actually talking last night about making our own pie last night after it happenedAt least that way there hopefully won't be any nasty surprises! My OH likes the Fray Bentos pastry though as it doesn't go too thick and flaky like some other ones do but can experiment

It's a mis-leading name for that pie.
It's called a Steak and Ale, but only contains beef.
Steak is a type of beef, specifically cut from muscle, beef is any part of the animal.0 -
I had a tube in the tinned meat pie my Mum In Law made for tea tonight. Off putting but they don't hurt you (Didn't eat much after that mind).
I used to love the crusts of those Fray Bentos pies, the pie was horrible but that top was yummy, especially the bits that were not crispy and a bit soggy.0 -
Ohh, Lovely, perhaps the tubes/hard bit's has some bone marrow in it.
Truly delicious.0 -
I love the fray bentos pies
In any cheap meat product you will always have bits that you would rather not eat.Owing on CC £00.00 :j

Maybe we feel sick because we are suddenly made to realise that we are eating a dead animal which has been reared and slaughtered for our benefit.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
