Works out a fair bit more expensive than a quid from Asda though0 -

Not sure I agree with going this far but I do think it would be a good thing if more people appreciated what they were eating - where it came from and what was done to get it on their plate. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

not everyone has time to make a pie.
To make the sauce, then bake the pie is not a speedy process.0 -

while people may going to a slaughter house may put them off eating meat.
lots of people who work in food factory who make vegeterain foods also do not eat products where they work as they get put off by what they see.
For the record I have been to more than one slaughter house.0 -
I'm afraid I only buy meat from the butchers, and make my own pies and burgers nowadays!
I once found a HUGE chunk of gristle in Tesco Finest burgers, which goes to show that even pre-packaged premium products are made from cheap cuts of meat!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Yuk!... Just yuk...I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Fray Bentos Pies...their largest customer is the UK as they will eat any old rubbish. I'll bet they cant flog them in the rest of Europe.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

It's a thing I remember from my childhood.. I'd never eat one now.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

While I expected and kind of understand the comments about it being a cheap meat product etc, surely you should still expect reasonably good quality? The piece that was found wasn't meat or edible in my opinion. It's just not something either of us had came across before, but I'm still very sure I won't ever buy them again.victoria1988 wrote: »Good idea! You could even save some time by making a big casserole first and then using the leftovers for a pie. See your butcher and ask what cheaper cuts they could sell you, they may be cheap but will always be lovely quality. I like to get a joint of brisket (great price) , cook it really slowly and have a roast + leftovers. Have fun!:D
Thanks for your replyThat's what we were thinking of doing with the casserole first, at least that way we can choose which vegetables we like to put in it as well. Moved into our flat a year ago so slowly building up kitchen utensils etc so still need something to put the pie into first but definitely going to do it! There's a popular butcher near us and I've heard of brisket before but haven't used it so I'll look into that too
