A friend told me today that someone she works with ordered a random item at their local branch so that they had a reservation number for that branch. The numbers are issued in sequence at each branch fro every order placed. This person apparently went into their local branch early this morning, and worked backwards through the reservation numbers in sequence from the item he had ordered until he found one for a touchpad, and paid for it. I don;t think there is anything in the Argos reservation system that could prevent someone from paying for a reserved item if they had the number. It's a fairly immoral thing to do, but it is clearly possible. So if people are being told that their reservation has already been collected by someone else, it might actually be true.

Hi just reading up on this no I'm not going to do it but in reality there's nothing stopping anybody , go to the self service type numbers in , I presume as so sought after wouldn't be that long before they hit lucky
Could be a problem Xmas though
Thanks to this site saved over £3000 -
That Argos thing is awful - some people are so mean. Glad I got mine as soon as Argos opened yesterday. OH kept saying something would happen and I kept telling him not to be silly, how could someone else get our reservation.0

Got mine a few days ago from staples, two of them for teenagers Christmas presents. Paid full price, got refund yesterday of difference. Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.0

In case anyone thinks likewise, the Argos ring and reserve service does not recognise the catalogue numbers. (Have had some instances in the past where I've been able to reserve something on ring and reserve but not on line.)0

I picked mine up from my local branch of Argos yesterday after seeing the thread on here (I had reserved it about a week ago). For £89, I'm chuffed! Thanks to original OP!!:T:T:T:T0

I was responding to a previous poster who was implying that Argos staff were keeping the Touchpads for themselves, because there was no way for anyone else to be able to buy an item which had been reserved. I'm sure Argos wouldn't have been too happy to have had people wrongly accusing their staff of taking the reserved stock either!Retro_Bunny wrote: »And you choose to post this on a website rumoured to have 6 million users!
