I'm shocked that people are being fobbed off at Argos. Definitely write and complain. Random people can't just obtain your reservation numbers. What's the point in reserving anything if the staff can just take it fr themselves?

But people can obtain items that have been reserved. A friend told me today that someone she works with ordered a random item at their local branch so that they had a reservation number for that branch. The numbers are issued in sequence at each branch fro every order placed. This person apparently went into their local branch early this morning, and worked backwards through the reservation numbers in sequence from the item he had ordered until he found one for a touchpad, and paid for it. I don;t think there is anything in the Argos reservation system that could prevent someone from paying for a reserved item if they had the number. It's a fairly immoral thing to do, but it is clearly possible. So if people are being told that their reservation has already been collected by someone else, it might actually be true.

Did I read somewhere that Comet is taking orders for this is paid in full ?

apparently not, my sis went in yesterday and they said as there is no stock you cant pay for what they haven't got! or words to that effect

Someone on HUKD actually suggested those that had missed out did this. It's probably why so many have had it happen to them.

I was told they where expecting 300 in by the 5th of September ( sa rang the head office to check before taking my order) and they where taking orders and getting people to pay then for them, although I have also heard that the ones they where expecting in on the 5th are needed to fill orders they took before yesterday !!

might be worth a shot though

i hate to say that these people are real horrible.

perhaps mine has been obtain this way. really despicable.

I ordered HP TouchPad from Argos and paid full price. Its being delivered tomorrow and Argos called me last night to say they are refunding the difference.

Like many of you I have been trying to source other ways of getting one. I had a call from a friend at CWH on Tuesday at 6.30pm saying that 400 had just been delivered. When I went in yesterday at 9am they were all gone. They called Head Office who explained that they are expecting a final delivery of 2000 in the next few days but that this would be their last delivery. Hope this helps someone.
