I think I'm about to spend £1254 on an LG 11kg washer and an LG 9kg condenser dryer. That includes Quidco. Scared.

Do you have to say that now she's made up her mind? :rotfl:

Sorry, no time to read reviews, what does the steam do?

I've also seen a 12kg Samsung with a 5 year guarantee. :rotfl:I have no idea how I manage to live given how bad I am at making decisions. :D

The steam does ..... erm....good things. I believe. :rotfl:

  • The steam is supposed to boost washing power, and also do a quick "refresh" of clothes that aren't filthy, but need a clean IYSWIM?

    I have the steam one.

My whirlpool which died had the steam function. I used to give Dh's shirts a quick blast after they had been dried and just before I ironed them, and was able to iron a shirt in about 30 seconds :). That was its best feature IMO. My new miele doesn't have the steam setting but apparently it is the main reason why machines die early especially in hard water areas as the limescale build up is much more than normal.

The proper reason to use the steam setting, as well as to refresh, is supposed to be to get out stubborn stains but I can't say I ever noticed much difference.

we bought a miele last year and its the best washer i have ever had, plus it has a 10 year guarantee - if it lasts that long (which i'm sure it will) it works our cheaper than buying a few cheap machines.

What didn't you like about your LG Sue?

Miele don't do bigger than an 8kg drum so that would exclude the ability to wash my superking size duvet. That aside, the Miele models I would have liked are £2400 and £1300. Not really do-able. :o

You can spend it on me instead if that's less scary :rotfl:

Aliasjo I really wouldn't get too hung up on the drum size. If you have the time this guide is worth a read about how the machines work.

For my money's worth I certainly would not spend £1200 on an LG machine either. A machine that has that size potential capacity is going to cost far more to run overall even when not being used to capacity and the wear and tear on the increased weight inside it almost certainly will have an effect

What warranty do these come with. If its any less than say 5 or 7 years parts AND labour I really wouldn't go near it!

    Sorry!

But the object of the exercise is to be able to wash my superking size duvets, so the drum size is an issue. I just can't fit those duvets into an 8kg drum.

The £1200 was for both washing machine AND tumble dryer.

    2 years warranty btw.

I understand that but as the link I provided suggested - the actual useable drum size especially allowing for the weight of a superking duvet can only cause you to overload I would have thought causing long term damage.
if that is the be all and end all of the search requirements I can see you may stuggle with any machine. my duvets get done at a laundrette occassionally. Cheaper solution maybe to buy an anti allergy type duvet protector that encloses your duvet so it doesn't need washing as much?

Didn't realise £1200 was for both - in that case I take it back and 2 years warranty is fine as a standard warranty (same as Bosch, Siemens standards ones etc) - I would personally want more when spending that much however on a relatively untried make

Yes, I have to agree that's a worry. Decisions decisions.
