Why did you have to start the thread?!
I'm now lusting after a £765 washing machine  and I've got about £5 to my name :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

The lower spin speed is a lot quieter ... in fact ours is so noisy we don't use the higher spin speed, and honestly I don't think we notice the difference. The difference between 1400 and 1600 spin is very marginal, I doubt you would actually tell the difference.
My suggestion also, although you've discounted that. Are you near any university campuses? Do they have launderettes you can use?How often do you pop it in the wash? if it's frequently then certainly take into account what you are looking for. if you only wash it occassionally and another WM fits the bill other than the capacity size, would taking duvet to a laundrette do?
Another suggestion for you, is have you got a whirligig? If you have, you can get covers for them which let the stuff go on drying in the rain, and even dry quicker with the cover on than off. Mooloo swears by hers. Then you could save on the tumble drying.
Hasn't anyone got a Dyson wm? I think DH is going to want to look at them next time.
Another thing is to check what temps you can wash at. I need to wash bedding at at least 50 to kill off the dust mites (asthma / eczema in the family), but ours jumps from 40 to 60, which is a bit of a waste of power.
Oh, and if you put your washing machine on a suspended chipboard floor, and if said washing machine then leaks, and if the washing powder drawer seems to be harder to access, then do check the machine's not falling through the floor. It's now on two strips of 2 x 4. Fortunately I noticed before it really did fall through the floor ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I have my beady eye on one (or 2) of the LG 11kg models.. they are all 1400 spin speed but TBH after about 1200 the benefit is negligible. I often spin mine at 1400 instead of the 1600 my machine can handle as it isnt an option on the programme I am using and it doesnt increase drying time..
I have one of these, and I love it. My one is the steam version. I've had it a year and would recommend it.

Savvy_Sue, I thought Dyson stopped making washing machines?0

I think it was Jackieglasgow (sorry if I'm wrong) who has one of those LG machines and loves it. If I needed a new one I'd get an LG/Bosch. I've got a bosch now, had it 4 years, never missed a beat.
Post in the arms, laundry threads run and run there... there was a really good one about what was in your last load a while back.
Must've been me cos I do harp on about it.

As per usual I haven't read past the OP

Sorry - washing machine chat just doesn't grab me lol
I have a 1600 rpm spin hotpoint, which I love - still works well after 5 + years, and I find the high spin saves me money when it comes to tumble drying.
It's been great over the summer to be able to hang stuff out to dry
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

PS I wash everything at 30 degrees, apart from tea-towels & dog towels which get boil washed!I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I'll add you to my hate list when you get your black one.
They didn't have black in that model when we got it - they do now though.
Why do you need 2?
Btw, my floor is as bouncy as a bouncy thing, and the only time there's been an uneven load was when I put a duvet into wash on the duvet setting - so I don't use the duvet setting to wash the duvets now (and I wash about 2 a week), and they wash just fine on any of the other 3 cycles that I use.
