    The ridges on the inside of the drum, if one has dropped off it will bang.

    Ah, I see, thanks. Nope they are all there and secure. :)

    Am doing several washes today, will take a note of exactly if/when the machine bangs and will decide what to to later.

    I think with RacyRed's help we have identified the problem. aj, you have clearly received a male washing machine, even if it's wearing pink and flouncing (I'm thinking Danny LaRue here!).

    What you need is a female washing machine. When you phone and discuss this with them, I should tell 'em that.
