hi, i am soo sorry! i know its been explained soooooo many times, but i am still confused:o:o:o:o:o
after phoning sky today, i don't kno who ended up more confused me or the c s man ha ha
i currently have all except sport, and this is £40 he told me that if i downgraded and just kept kids package, although i would automatically be moved to the entertainment extra for the £24 this would not include movies.
i am not sure what to keep or get rid of , so that i still have all but sport. and would this be less then the £40 i am paying now
i currently have the packages:
variety, knowledge, style and culture, childrens, news, music, and movies
thankyou so much xx0 -
and sky say they've changed things to make it simpilar to understand!!???
i am so so confused right now. can someone help me, i have:
variety pack
childrens pack
music pack
and 2 months free movies which i have cancelled and will end in sept.
should i be calling them to cancel any of the packages?
i also have half price multi room and half price tv packages until oct so was told to ring up in sept to see ehat else they have to offer.
thank you**Waiting for a BIG win!**

You can leave everything as is and all will be fine, I think. You can call and cancel one mix (either kids or music) and you *may* end up saving 1 quid a month and getting all the mixes. Or you can leave it as it is and you will definitely get all the mixes for what you are paying now. The problem is no one knows for sure how this will work (including Sky!), so you have to decide if the trouble/uncertainty is worth 1 quid a month savings.
It sounds like there is a slight risk that this ploy won't work and we'll have to pay the new package rates to get all of our channels back if we mess about downgrading now (which, if you didn't have all the mixes, would be an increase), or that we may be without some of our channels for a few months while they switch over and add on ones to which we weren't subscribed at the time of the changeover. After reading all the mixed messages Sky is giving, I'd probably leave it as is for a pound a month. It's up to you -- that's 12 quid a year (unless you get a half-price discount next month, in which case the difference will be 6 quid a year). They had my account so confused that if I could go back and re-do, I don't know if I would've messed with it even for the 36 quid a year I'm saving (if it all goes to plan).0 -
thank you, yes think il leave it, not worth it for a quid is it. il just see what they offer in sept when i ring them.**Waiting for a BIG win!**

Could someone please provide me with a non-premium rate no to call them on? I'm paying £37.50 a month and have just been made redundant so going through my finances to make cuts where possible. Cutting Sky is an obvious one but I don't want to lose it if it's possible I can get a better deal and still keep some service. I also have Sky+ which I just love and would be loath to do without. We don't drink, smoke or socialise much so I would like to keep some of the package. Any tips on what I should say would be great.0

Thanks for all the clarification - I'm going to see what deal they can offer me (thinking of getting the broadband and calls). Reading through the T&Cs for Sky - it seems that Sky can't increase prices or make you pay for any additional channels it may impose - only for the minimum term (good for people like me if you have only joined them this year). So the ever so helpful 'we won't increase charges to help you' isn't as helpful as it seems as Sky has to do it to abide by their own terms and conditions?
"If we change any premium bonus channel in your chosen Option into a channel which you would normally have to pay extra to get, or withdraw any Channel in your Basic Pack, you'll continue to get that Channel as part of your Option at no extra cost until the end of your Minimum Term"
Please feel free to shoot me down if I've interpreted this incorrectly!0 -
Hi, just to say that I just called sky to change my packages and he asked why so stated because of the re packaging etc so could get a price freeze for 19.50 and get back what i originally had and his response was that they have all just received memos stating that sky were aware of people changing etc and to reiterate that anyone downgrading would not be eligible for the price freeze and would get billed the full £25.00 once the change over happened. He did say it was sneaky of sky to do this but only because sky deem it sneaky for people to try the downgrade etc. How true this is I'm not sure but just wanted to make people aware that it may backfire on them and could result in the full amounts being billed.0

This is what I've been afraid of. The two CS people I spoke with definitely said the downgrading would work to save money, but Sky may change that policy. So the question is, should I call back and tell them to cancel the downgrades and put it all as it was?
They've already told me what my bill is for the next several months, and that price seems to be consistent with saving 3 quid a month from what I would've been paying. I wonder if they could still change that?0 -
I've only read part of this thread when I decided to check on my account to see if I was paying £19.50 for 1 pack. The price said I was paying £20.60 and had gone down from 3 packs to 1. I rang Sky and basically after the man asking me to wait a few times (tho wasn't on hold and could still hear background) he told me because I cancelled before change in Sept I would pay £20 a month (variety & style & culture entertainment pack) and wouldn't be entitled to the price freeze:mad: I said "no, I rang up on August 1st and spoke to an advisor who said that that I could change to the one pack without any penalties and as I chose a pack included in the Entertainment Extra, namely Music, I would be put onto the entertainment extra on 1st Sept and be paying £19.50". I also said a note was also on my account explaining this! He told me that someone from Sky would look at my account tonight and ring me tomorrow. He also said said that a survey about the call was being sent to my email and asked me to fill it in. I AM LIVID WITH SKY:mad::mad::mad: I feel i have been lied to by them and it was only just by checking my payment that I made the call, as they take payments a month in advance and there were different payment figures on there as I cancelled partly through a month. So I would advise everyone to tread carefully with this, you may not get what you were promised.
Now what do I do? Do I wait for the call tomorrow, but what if I am on the basic entertainment pack? I was happy with the music and knowledge and don't need the other 3, but it would have been nice to have more channels there or do i ring and complain, citing this incidence and cancel in the hope they may offer a deal (never been offered one in 3 years and may mention this tomorrow), also I'd have to find a new phone and broadband provider too:(
I did ring back last night and spoke to a woman who made both me and her more confused and she told me that I would get all 6 channels but for £20.50 a month. This morning I got the call I was told to expect and was told I would pay £19.50 a month fixed for 12 months "for the varierty, knowledge and music" he said, but that would be the entertainment extra. So will see what happens next month!0
