This I don't know and I'm a little confused! Basically while I was complaining about my lack of M&S vouchers, the guy on the phone explained that we would be getting the discovery channels, history, food network, all the sky sports news for no extra charge. Not a clue why at all, but my Mum who is also a SKY customer isn't getting it so I'm wondering if this what this thread is about!

Susan, this is the call I had with sky on the 1st of this month. It was me who came to the conclusion that I must be able to downgrade and with the new package next month, still be able to have all 6 mixes by choosing one in the entertainment pack, I only rang to check I was still getting this as my account online and on tv still showed 3 packs (tho an amendment to 1 pack had been shown online) and was then told I would not get the price freze and that I would be paying £20, which sounded like the variety and style/culture. The guy was English, so no bad communication there....other than now being told I may not get the deal promised.:( tho it seems that others are being offered it without asking for it, so it must be available?? Maybe i'll wait and see if Sky does phone me tomorrow, then i'll have to ring back or risk waiting till next month to see what channels I am left with....tho this will put me in the bracket for change and i will probably end up having to pay full price for Ents or Ents Extra which I don't want to do:(
I think the chap you spoke to did not understand the new packages. The way it was explained to me was that everyone is automatically changing to the new packages from 1st September at their existing rates so if anyone does not have channels in the extra package they will just get the entertainment package at their existing rate. If they have channels in the "extra" package they will get both packages at their exisiting rate( as you have music you will get both). As you have downgraded before the 1st September you will be entitled to the change over at the lowest rate with it frozen until Sept 2012. As I understand it, if your downgrade does not go through before the 1st Sept you will have to pay the higher 6 pack price pack price frozen for a year, not the other way round like the chap told you on your recent phone call. The chap I spoke to checked it all out with a supervisor and hence the reason he got my variety pack cancellation to take effect from the end of this month, instead of in 30 days time.
  • I rang to cancel my extra packs tonight too and I'm now paying £20.50 for variety and kids. The CA I spke to told me that it didn't matter that I was only cancelling the extra pack now, that my rate for the next year would be £20.50 when the switch takes place on 1st September. However I've learnt the hard in the past that sky often say one thing and do another so we shall see when next months bill arrives...

hi, i am soo sorry! i know its been explained soooooo many times, but i am still confused:o:o:o:o:o
after phoning sky today, i don't kno who ended up more confused me or the c s man ha ha
i currently have all except sport, and this is £40 he told me that if i downgraded and just kept kids package, although i would automatically be moved to the entertainment extra for the £24 this would not include movies.
i am not sure what to keep or get rid of , so that i still have all but sport. and would this be less then the £40 i am paying now
    i currently have the packages:

variety, knowledge, style and culture, childrens, news, music, and movies
    thankyou so much xx
i keep losing weight, but it just keeps on finding me!!!!!!:D

Hmm, I hope they were wrong about the cancellation having to take place by the end of the month, or else the rest of us for whom it takes place in a month from now will actually have either screwed ourselves out of some channels or end up paying more for what we already had.

Not a clue why at all, but my Mum who is also a SKY customer isn't getting it so I'm wondering if this what this thread is about!

Basically Sky are doing away with all the current "mixes" (food, music, entertainment, news, kids, etc) and going down to just "Entertainment" and "Entertainment Plus". The current mixes are being split across the 2 new mixes.

The way they've done it means, for example, if you just had the Variety and Kids mixes up until now then - so that you don't lose any channels come 1st September - you will be "moved" to both of the new 2 mixes (as Variety is on one and Kids is on the other). In getting "Entertainment Plus" you will also get all the other "old" mixes on Entertainment Plus as well. I am assuming you fit into this category.

However, if your existing "mixes" are all in one of the new mixes then you don't get both of the new mixes. You only get the one you need - unless you add a current mix that is in the other new mix before the end of the month. I am assuming your mum fits into this category

The recent posts on this thread are people asking how to "downgrade" their existing package to a minimal 2 mixes so that (a) they pay less per month and (b) receive both of the new packages come September.

Basically - if you do it right, you can get a Sky World package (excluding Sports, ESPN and Movies) for the price of a 2 "mix" package AND that price will be frozen for the next 12 months. Unless you then downgrade, in 12 months time you will be charged IIRC £25pm to keep both "Entertainment" and "Entertainment Plus" packages.
