I did ring back last night and spoke to a woman who made both me and her more confused and she told me that I would get all 6 channels but for £20.50 a month. This morning I got the call I was told to expect and was told I would pay £19.50 a month fixed for 12 months "for the varierty, knowledge and music" he said, but that would be the entertainment extra. So will see what happens next month!
I am thinking of emailing sky and asking for an email back confirming that I will be changed to the entertianment extra package at a rate of £19.50 per month frozen for a year from Sept 2011, so that I have it in writing as there seems to be a lot of different information. I think you might be best to do the same.

When I originally did the deal beginning of the month I asked if I could have it in writing but they said they had no way of doing that(?) May just try again, tho I am afraid of confusing matters again! Was going to see what happens 1st of next month and play hell with them if they negate on the offer.

Do you mean that your entertainment extra would only contain those three channels? Or that you'd get those 3 PLUS the rest as part of entertainment extra for you 19.50 price?

I just called sky on 0800 0466434 and told them I needed to reduce my costs and would like to keep the base package and the kids channels. No problem - all done. No mention of new package.

    The Sky website states clearly:

From 1 September, we’re making your choice of entertainment a lot more straightforward as we’re grouping our TV channels into just two packs; Entertainment and Entertainment Extra. New customers joining Sky after 31 August 2011 will pay our new prices; £20 for Entertainment or £25 for Entertainment Extra. If you’re an existing customer, you’ll be automatically moved to one of our new packs. Don’t worry, we’ll ensure that when you move you will not lose any channels and you may even gain some new ones. You’ll receive confirmation of this in writing, either in the post or by email before 1 August.
    To infinity and beyond!

We rang last week to tell them we needed to reduce our costs (currently have everything except espn for around £61 per month), all they offered was to take away HD and save £10.50 per month, no other offers...
we've been customers since it all began as well.

Freeview here we come, £61 a month extra in the bank :-)

can i ask a question for a friend
they have a sky box bought from somewhere else, they pay sky £36 a mth for movies and everything except sport. i said this seemed far too much
they want multi room but have an old tv
do they need to upgrade the tv to get a sky + box and multi room
they have also had a letter about the packages
they must be due a free box and a good deal, they are out of contract now too

I'm still interested if you can get a discount while you have the fixed price for 12 months, because that's a whole lot more than the money you save from a price fix.

I recently cancelled sky and they rang me back just before it went off. I went again for the std 4 pack I had before, to see what they would offer..... 12 months half price, so went for it and checked that the £11.25 would be fixed for 12 months, which it would and I would get the entertainment plus package.

I suspect I could have pushed it and just gone for the one pack for £19.50 and still got the 12 months half price. But for £11.25 for 12 months, I'm happy.

But if you are already in the 12 months fixed period, trying to get a reduction in price will be interesting.

Looks like today the channels I cancelled a few days ago are already gone! Thank goodness I kept Variety and Knowledge!

This *may* be a good thing, as hopefully that will mean when the changeover comes on Sept. 1 that we automatically get all the channels at my current price as the others were already cancelled. If not, the only other channel set I need to add back is News, and after Sept. 1 that will cost me 25 quid to get instead of the 21.50 I'd pay if I added it now! Any ideas on if I really will get all the channels???

Edit: Just checked further, and we seem to get all the news but Fox for some reason? So I don't know if that means the rest will be staying or going. And the Music and style channels are gone, which is actually fine, I should've canceled them long ago.

Oh no. I've had a look through and I still have mine. I can do without losing half the stuff we watch during half term. They told me they would not be cancelled for 31 days.

In fact, they are charging me for them for another 31 days. If you have been told the same then then they should not have been removed as you will be charged for the 31 days. I would speak to them about that ASAP.
