ok could someone tell me which packs i should cancel to save on this deal, i currently have the following
variety
style and culture
childrens
news
music
sports + ESPN
thanks
Well, if you want to keep sports plus espn, that has nothing to do with the entertainment mix packages. You could claim you want to cancel sports too to see if they give a discount on those, and then if they don't say you want to keep them anyway. If they do give you a discount, they may well tell you they can't downgrade your pack that same day (that's what they told me when I called to get the deal on movies and then tried to downgrade my mixes the same day. Then when I called back this week to downgrade my mixes, they said it would cancel my discount on movies! In the end they agreed to let me keep both, but be aware it could get a bit muddled if you take a discount on sports before you ask to downgrade your mixes).
For the change in entertainment mixes, from what I've been told, you need to keep Variety (which will automatically give you style&culture), and then one of your other three - music, children or news, which will automatically give you all of the Entertainment Extra pack.0 -
Anyone receiving offers might not be included in the 12 month price freeze only if you have been given a reduction for 12 months but sky usually only do 6 months
* Price Freeze applies to all customers who have an active subscription on 31 August 2011. It will be applied to Sky monthly subscriptions until 31 August 2012, excluding offers, call rates, administrative changes, VAT changes and any changes made to your subscription, including changes to your Sky TV Packs.0 -
I'm wondering if you have the price freeze, will you still be able to negotiate 6 month half price deals. 6 months half price on top of a price freeze? Seems a bit dodgy.
I just wish sky were more open.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I've only read part of this thread when I decided to check on my account to see if I was paying £19.50 for 1 pack. The price said I was paying £20.60 and had gone down from 3 packs to 1. I rang Sky and basically after the man asking me to wait a few times (tho wasn't on hold and could still hear background) he told me because I cancelled before change in Sept I would pay £20 a month (variety & style & culture entertainment pack) and wouldn't be entitled to the price freeze:mad: I said "no, I rang up on August 1st and spoke to an advisor who said that that I could change to the one pack without any penalties and as I chose a pack included in the Entertainment Extra, namely Music, I would be put onto the entertainment extra on 1st Sept and be paying £19.50". I also said a note was also on my account explaining this! He told me that someone from Sky would look at my account tonight and ring me tomorrow. He also said said that a survey about the call was being sent to my email and asked me to fill it in. I AM LIVID WITH SKY:mad::mad::mad: I feel i have been lied to by them and it was only just by checking my payment that I made the call, as they take payments a month in advance and there were different payment figures on there as I cancelled partly through a month. So I would advise everyone to tread carefully with this, you may not get what you were promised.
Now what do I do? Do I wait for the call tomorrow, but what if I am on the basic entertainment pack? I was happy with the music and knowledge and don't need the other 3, but it would have been nice to have more channels there or do i ring and complain, citing this incidence and cancel in the hope they may offer a deal (never been offered one in 3 years and may mention this tomorrow), also I'd have to find a new phone and broadband provider too:(0 -
Thanks OP, I rang sky just now and after firstly getting a call centre abroad and a customer services rep who did not understand what I was talking about I put down the phone and rang again and got a UK based lovely person who explained that if you have a channel that is in the entertainment extra package then you can get the entertainment and extra packages for £19.50 per month, with a price freeze in place for 12 months. I have variety and the kids pack, but had cancelled the 2 months free movies so he kindly got his supervisor to authorise him to cancel the 2 months free movies cancellation (as you can only do one downgrade a month) and put the cancellation of the movies and the variety pack to go through as from 30th August so I get the prize freeze for 12 months and auto switch over to the the two new packs from the 1st September for a rate of £19.50pm as I have the kids pack.0

Just rang and cancelled 2 of my mixes (did have 4) so now only left with kids and entertainment. She said that one months notice is required and they will be switched of one month from today, however she never mentioned anything about the new packages from Sept. Hoping by default that come Sept I will get the new entertainment plus package at the 2 package price, or have I jumped the gun and gonna end up paying more
hopefully to teach you a lesson for being a !!!!!Salt0 -
hi all, well i am 1 of the confused ones on here to lol, we have the following packs (light users)
variety pack
knowledge pack
children's pack
normal amount i pay is £21.50 but at the moment we have an offer on for half price tv so only pay £10.75 am i right in thinking thats the lowest i can go? as i need to keep kids and variety on to ensure i get the new extra pack
thanks for any helphave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0 -
I had similar with my first call whereby the customer services rep did not understand what I was asking and did not really understand what I was talking about, plus said I could not downgrade to just the kids pack . I rang again and got a Uk call centre and confirmed that if I had one channel in the enertainment extra package I would automatically be moved on to the new 2 package entertainment deal from Sept at a rate of £19.50 per month. He did make sure my cancellation would go through before 1st Sept so I would ge the price freeze for 12 months. I would ring back and check again.
Susan, this is the call I had with sky on the 1st of this month. It was me who came to the conclusion that I must be able to downgrade and with the new package next month, still be able to have all 6 mixes by choosing one in the entertainment pack, I only rang to check I was still getting this as my account online and on tv still showed 3 packs (tho an amendment to 1 pack had been shown online) and was then told I would not get the price freze and that I would be paying £20, which sounded like the variety and style/culture. The guy was English, so no bad communication there....other than now being told I may not get the deal promised.:( tho it seems that others are being offered it without asking for it, so it must be available?? Maybe i'll wait and see if Sky does phone me tomorrow, then i'll have to ring back or risk waiting till next month to see what channels I am left with....tho this will put me in the bracket for change and i will probably end up having to pay full price for Ents or Ents Extra which I don't want to do:(0 -

thanks for that, sports/and espn are fine (espn currently free for 3 months and sky sky sports currently £5 for 4 months).
was mainly the other packs i needed to sort out, will get on the phone and cancel style, news and music soon.0
