Sky tv package reshuffle

  • I had no idea Sky were doing this new package thing! Just looked at my bill and we have movies, HD and entertainment packages. We watch mostly kids and discovery things. I also found I'm being charged for mcaffee when I dont even use it or have it installed on my computer anymore! Is it worth me phoning to cancel tv things?

Ok im really confused :o I pay about £90 a month for everything, but reading this thread im guessing it would be best to cancel some packages. Do I need to keep sport/movies and kids then cancel the rest? or is it something else I cancel? Does it have to be kids I keep or can I keep something else? I wouldn't mind going a couple of months without a few channels. TIA

I have just got the entertainment pack and pay £24.50 per month. what is it i need to do to get this reduced to £19.50 and keep the same programs.

To be honest its just the kids who watch disney etc

    Any ideas????????

    thanks

As i understand it (sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong) you need to downgrade your package just now to only 2 of the packs (can you just have 1?? hm, thinking out loud here) but 1 of those packs must include something that is included in what will be the new Entertainment Extra pack that sky are introducing - I think kids, music or knowledge are one of the ones to keep - check on sky website. Then by default come Sept you will automatically go onto the Entertainment Extra pack and as sky have a 12 month price freeze you will only pay the price that you are paying just now for the 2 packs ie £19.50.

So if you downgrade to say documentaries you will get them all (entertainment and ent.extra) for £19.50? Do you get to keep like bravo etc? or are they a seperate package? (sorry im not the brighest today) :o

I think so - so long as you have something from the entertainment extra you should get it at the cheaper price - that how I'm understanding it works by reading previous posts.
I called to downgrade my package today but she never mentioned the new packages or prices to me just said package would be downgraded a month from today (months notice,) however reading through previous posts and threads on this people seem to have been told they will get it at cheaper price for the year, so assuming (fingers x) I will too!

Ok, I figured paying 1 quid extra for Variety was worth it for peace of mind to make sure I get it without interruption, as that's really my favorite channel pack. So I called back, added Variety back (I had cancelled all but Knowledge) and the man said yes, you need Variety and one from the Entertainment Extra pack to ensure you get all packs when the changeover happens. If he was wrong, well, it's just a quid more a month. If he's right, it saves a lot of annoyance if I didn't have Sky 1, Sky Atlantic and Comedy Central in one month's time!

FYI, if you have additional premium services, like movies, when you call and say you want to cancel everything but X and Y mixes, make sure you say that you still want to keep Movies or Sports, or they will cancel that, too.

You need to downgrade from your, currently, all 6/7 entertainment mixes to just 2 - BUT make sure you pick 1 mix from the new "entertainment" package and 1 from the "entertainment plus" package.

This should reduce your bill by about £5 but come September you will 'revert' back to all entertainment channels and be locked into a price freeze for 12 months and still be paying £5 less a month than you are now.
