Interesting how many primary schools insist on everything having a logo. Our village school is fairly relaxed about uniform - in fact some kids hardly bother! My son has the proper school sweatshirt but wears normal school trousers and polo shirts. Different story at secondary school but I stocked up last year so we have plenty.

I agree M&S are great for uniforms and their trousers always fit mine well.

I guess on here most of us are fairly savvy about our shopping but I do wonder if some people go out and buy new just for the sake of it.

It used to take us ages in the uniform shop and cost a fortune when all 4 were at school but my youngest is in his last year now :(
His blazer and PE kit are fine and 2 of his shirts are ok so just pants and maybe another couple of shirts.
He had ingrowing toenails and needed an op on both feet so wore plain black trainers at the end of last term and they still fit fine so I'm going to try and get away with them rather than buy shoes

Our schools are very strict about this, kids are sent home if they wear trainers and not proper school shoes.

I should get away with not buying anything but a couple of white polo shirts for dd. Luckily her cousin passed down some uniform which fits her now. DS1 hasnt really grown for the last couple of years so he should be ok. DS2 will need yet another pair of new trainers as he has managed to destroy a pair in less than 3 weeks! and his trousers have holes in the knees so he will be going back in his shorts until it is too cold.

Had to this year but considering DS didn't have new uniform last September I can't really complain. Oh wait yes I can because 2 polo shirts, 2 sweatshirts and one PE t shirt cost me £40!!!! I hate the way everything has to have a logo on it :(
    Wow, that's expensive!

    £40 got me 2 x sweatshirts, 2 x poloshirts, a logo'd reversable, fleece-lined jacket and a water bottle :undecided
I know that sounds expensive, but DIL has got the same for DGS, only available from their School, cost £64
    My word!!

I've managed not to spend anything (yet). DS1 has only got shorts as started a new school at easter. Wonder how long he can go before he really has to have long trousers? Maybe it will be a mild winter??!

Feeling very smug as I've even made name tapes this year with a length of bias binding I found in the sewing box my Grandma left me (she died in 1973!) - must be 50 years old. That's Old Style....

  • I can never buy any of the low priced uniforms that you see in the supermarkets etc because the uniform for my kids school is only available through a school shop that sells the uniform with the logos etc on them. The colours are also brown and gold which makes it harder to get. I spent about £300 for 2 this year (youngest just started) the youngest inherited the blazer from the older one so that saved me about £70.
