Not me either :(, had to ds2 some school trousers, but seems to be okay for now regarding jumpers and polo shirts.

DS1 needed a whole new uniform due to him starting secondary school.

also had to buy them both new shoes as they've out grown the old ones.

I was hoping the weather was going to turn so i could just send ds2 in some old school trousers made into shorts. But its not looking very likely.

    Lucky you though :)

Had to this year but considering DS didn't have new uniform last September I can't really complain. Oh wait yes I can because 2 polo shirts, 2 sweatshirts and one PE t shirt cost me £40!!!! I hate the way everything has to have a logo on it :(

I know that sounds expensive, but DIL has got the same for DGS, only available from their School, cost £64  And school recommends 2 PE shirts, but he'll manage on one. I really don't know why they can't just sell a sew on badge for the parents who would like to buy cheaper ones to customise. And the polo shirt is hidden under the sweatshirt for most of the year so why does it need a logo *rolls eyes*

I am only buying what they need.

DS1 - shoes still fit so will have to do, shirts and sweatshirts too (though spent a while destaining all white poloshirts - most ok, some will give 2nd go and any left after that will keep for emergency use) have nxt size trousers boght in sale a while back which are too long so will turn up and hem. lunchbag only had 2 terms use so ok. needs new PE kit but had nxt size top and shorts from sale buys, just need trackie bottoms, only splurged on a promised big rucksack as struggling to carry lunch, water bottle, book bag etc. Got one in Clarks sale - practical and funky to suit us both.

DS2 - needs new shoes but waiting til last minute as his feet went up half size recently and usually mysteriously jump 1.5 sizes at a time so waiting another week to buy. Has hardly worn handme down trainers to wear in hols in correct size. Have all uniform & PE kit hand-me-down from big bro and friends' kids (only kept those in decent condition) Only other purchase was a lunchbag which I let him choose as he going to be full-time in Sept.

When checked DS2 feet at beginning of hols as shoes getting on small sise, the assistant said fine for a few weeks and then made a big thing of trying to book me an appointment for new school shoes for both boys before end of school hols. I said will only be buying if they need the nxt size. he look horrified but I can only afford to buy good quality shoes in right fit if I buy on a need rather than want basis. They get one pair trainers, one pair school shoes in each size plus wellies, plimsoles, ususally jellies or those swim shoes for beach etc and thats it.

I don't get this, why do some folks buy new uniform every year as a matter of course?

Bad news is that son is off to Uni now, so needs more 'everyday' clothes, uniform just won't do now!

Only need astroturf trainers for DS :D and only then because I put off getting replacements the last time his feet grew (was only a few weeks before the end of term).

My son has shot up since last term. He will need a new full PE kit, school shoes, jumper and trousers. I bought new polo shirts near the end of last term so I bought them big. I'm really impressed by Marks and Spencers uniform, the quality is fab and the price is good. The school jumpers have to come from the school shop and will be £8.50 each, eek.

I'm having to buy all new here. My youngest starts nursery and has to wear uniform. dd1 starts yr 1 and must've been sleeping with her feet in manure over the summer because all her skirts are now flashing her knickers she's shot up that much. her perfectly good uniform is too big for dd2. All of their polo shirts and sweatshirts are supposed to have logos, but tough luck, they can have plain white polos from a*da. they won't really be on show anyway. will be getting skirts and trousers from a*da too as they were realy good last yr. that just leaves shoes...hate shoe shopping, they both have narrow feet so it will probably have to be clarks, unless anyone has any other suggestions.

I also dont want them to be like me...when i started secondary school my mum bought my blazer 'a bit big, to grow into'...when I left secondary school 5 yrs later I still had the sleeves turned up 3 inches!!!

nope i replace thru the year as needed, and have done since they joined secondary school im on my last one now thats in year 9 so have enough logo stuff from his brothers to see him to the end of college, at around £150 for a full uniform it madness to replace each year so its just been new shoes and a pack of shirts for September as he had new trousers in June.

This is my last ever year of buying school uniform. Im quite sad about it really because I first started in 1993 and have been doing it every year since as I have four kids (well kiddults!).

Anyway Im pleased I started early this year as the school uniform has changed this year for Ds3 (15) and there is no old uniform left in the school shop only the new style (which costs in excess of 200 pounds:eek::eek::eek:). There is a transition year so DS3 can wear the old style and I replenished his sweatshirts and polo shirts in April. So Im not buying much but will have to get him some new school shoes....... (sigh) a very stressful process:o
