Iv'e been to WI tonight. Lost 8lbs:j To be fair though I have a chest infection and really don't have much of an appetite. I also thought I'd have lost a bit more last week so maybe it sort of evens up. Anyway am well chuffed, got to next stone under and got my 2 stone sticker. I'm kind of hoping to get rid of this chest infection but also kind of hoping I dont!

    wow...great loss! go u :j
  • Hi Lucy, I think you are almost but not quite correct! Consultant may be along later to clarify, but in my experience:

    1. you cannot set a target of under 7lb to lose
    2. once you reach your target, you do not have to pay to attend (though you obviously will pay that week to go and get weighed!) as long as you stay within 3 lbs of that target weight, that is you have a bit of up-and-down leeway. If you do increase or lose more than 3 lbs from that target you will pay the following week and pay until you are back at your target.
    3. I don't think you have to be 4 lb below your target to re-set it. I think I was on mine when I re-set it - I've never been below it!

but yes, setting an interim target and then having a little "rest" is, for some of us, a good incentive as well as a money-saving issue. However, in my own case, I settled at a target last January and gave myself a nice rest then decided around June to take another half-stone off. Will it come off? Will it **ery. I guess I'm just a great maintainer :rotfl:. So take heed from my experience :D

Thanks Blackberry. I've not got my books with me at the moment, but am sure you can set a target at the weight you are now according to my Consultant who has a large notice by the scales saying "If you want to set a target, it has to be done at the scales - why not set a target, it can be at the weight you are now!" Not sure why you would want to do that, unless it's to save money.
I definately set mine at 6lbs below what I am now and the computer said yes!
When I read the Blue Book (came in the welcome pack) while at Tuesday's WI I thought it said you had to be so much below your target to re-set (I thought 7lbs) or what would be stopping you re-setting every other week and so never paying?
I've just looked on the website and that is no help at all.
I will study the book tonight.

Oh what an emotional day!!!! Got phone call from mum to say nephews girlfriend had been rushed to hospital last night [by her parents as ambulance said it wasn't life threatening] turns out she was in labour [she had no idea she was pregnant] nephew all excited rang my brother etc. Poor girl had long labour only for baby to die 20 minutes after birth. So now everyones guttered and don't know what to do for best. Now have to wait for post mortem, would an ambulance made a difference? Don't suppose we'll ever know :(.
My thoughts are with my poor nephew & niece inlaw
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • How awful TakeItEazy:( Not sure what difference an ambulance would have made if she went on to have a long labour. My thoughts are with you and yours.

  • TIE, how awful for those parents, so sad. As Guns says, if she had a long labour it would have made no difference I imagine, the ambulance would have had to drive to them before taking her in, it all takes time anyway.

Hi Lucy - these may be things individual consultants can decide then, because our consultant lets you set a target when she goes round the room saying if we've lost or not, and ours definitely says it has to be at least 7 lbs. My poor consultant has done so well with all of us that half the room is on target, she can't be making a profit :rotfl: It's the only career where you make less money the more successful you are :rotfl:

My treats today, a crunchie and a small glass (well a big glass, but small amount) of wine.

BBC website had some good advice today, it would apply to SW-ers though they meant it to apply to anyone that is overweight, I'll see if I can find it again.
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

  • nope, blowed if I can find it now, they've changed their home page. Basically it was saying fresh fruit and vegetables aren't labelled with calories because they don't need to be - get eating 'em. And it said cook your own food from scratch then you know what's going into it.

Anyway, I did track down this recipe I spotted today, could be v.tasty if you avoid (or syn) the 3 tablespoons of oil: sag aloo with roasted gobi

    thank you Slimming World!
