Welcome all newbies. Danetastic you are in good company. I weighed in at 17st 13lb on 9th Jan and a size 22; I've lost 1st 13lb since then and am probably a size 20 now..... roll on dropping to an 18 then 16 then 14 - I haven't been a size 16 for 14 years so it would be lovely to get to that and then some.

    Good luck. x

I joined as a size 22 in july 2010... and am now in a 14/16 depending on where the clothes come from! ( They don't come from Evans any more!)

    I have lost 5 stone+ and I feel AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Keep going - you can do it!

I have to admit I am never off my own scales, I weigh myself every morning, and some evenings, I find it gives me encouragement. If Im a bit heavier it gives me a boost to be extra good, and if Im a bit lighter it makes me try harder to lose even more.
Different strokes for different folks, its just my 'thing'.

This. Me entirely. I could never weigh just once a week! I'm far too impatient, but more importantly, you can do a lot of damange in a week (well, I can, anyway) so I need to know on a day to day basis what's going on. And contrary to popular belief, it's nearly always pretty consistent with what I've been doing. If I've had a piggy day, it shows the next day. If I've been good, it shows too. If I'm moving too slowly as the week progrresses, I ramp up the veg and lower the syns. It just stops me getting complacent. And I don't get downhearted when I gain because there's always a reason. I just make a mental note that I 'can't get away with doing that again'.

Also I find it really useful when I'm at my goal weight, so I can work out how much I can play with my diet before I start to gain again. Weekly weighs would be too far apart for me when I'm doing that delicate balancing act...
  • Please can I join (or should I say re-join) you lovely lot? I started back at SW two weeks ago, lost 4.5 lb last week and WI is on Thursday this week. I had with 28lb to lose, and I want to do that by the summer so I can wear all my lovely summer clothes this year. I am currently a size 14-16 and want to be a 12.

I am a busy full-time working Mummy to a 2 year old, so time is short for me, but I am finding the plan easy to follow so far. I've also been running three times a week, every week for the past month which I feel really good about.

This thread is so inspirational- there are some amazing losses on here :T. I've done SW before, but the group I go to now seems to be lacking in target members, and people who have lost much weight. It seems to be more people losing then putting on the same few pounds, but I'm glad I can pop on here when I need a kick up the backside!

Yep, that's what I've been prescribed, Orlistat is the generic name and Xenical is the brand name.

Maybe it's a regional problem (although if you google it it seems to be national) or maybe you were just lucky that your pharmacy still had some stocks. Hope it comes back soon.

i went back to the pharmacy on friday like i was told to, and he said they have not got any supply in, and he has foned the supplier, who told him that he is "waiting to hear back from the
Manufacturer at the end of the month, to find out what is happening with this product"

so i am not sure what that means, is it being discontinued?
  • Not a good week in more ways than one, mainly a raging ear infection after my lovely day out last Tues. Antibiotics, no sleep necessitating glasses of wine to console me and lovely cups of Ovaltine whilst whiling away the night hours unable to sleep because of the pain. Foodwise not too bad, but sat on my backside most of the week too poorly to walk anywhere as the cold made the earache worse. Anyways over that ish now, on the road to recovery. Need to stay on track, as got away lightly with a half a pound gain. My aim is to get my first half stone award next week. Watch this space.
Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.

Can I join in too please? Joined SW 4 weeks ago and have 2 stones to lose - lots of baby weight gained and it's just not shifting! Ideally I want to be back into pre-pregnancy dresses (10/12) by the summer and it's going alright so far - hoping I'm at -7lbs at weigh in tonight. I'm afraid my leader isn't brilliant but reading this thread and knowing people who have been to SW, I'm feeling really inspired that it's possible to lose the weight and keep it off.

However, we're also trying for a 2nd baby, so who knows what's going to happen!
