Please can you or anyone shed some light on this for me as I am ready to throw in the towel.

    :naughty: Don't you dare!!!

    What am I doing wrong?
Sorry for the long post but really need some help. :D xx

evilsquid has given good advice. Sometimes it can be medication, sometimes just eating the same old things and sometimes it just happens! If you stick with the plan you'll lose again for definite!! Take a look at piglet's signature, she hit a bad patch and worked through it and now has only 12lbs to go:D

ETA: I think you're probably not eating enough. Apparently your body hangs on to fat if it thinks it's being starved.

OMG there are some fantastic losses on here!! Well done!! I rejoined my local group last night, but would love to join in on here if i may ?? I want to loose 3 and a half stones altogether and I can't do this on my own xx

:hello: lamarsi, I started SW after getting my alcohol intake sorted on the other thread. I lost 3.5 stone in 10 months by the scenic route (plenty of wine syns and flexi holidays) and I've been at target since August. It can be done. This is a great thread for support and advice. Good luck and :hello:welcome to other newbies.

getting there i plateau'd with SW some time back - add in some wierd dietary problems and the scales were not budging or going up.....
i swapped to calorie counting and have lost 8lb in the last few weeks.

the reality was i was eating too much - carbs especially pasta.

if you eat more calories than you burn - you will sts or gain......and i'm finding that for some SW just does not work.

perhaps cut back your portion sizes, reduce fruit, switch from EE to red/green days.

good luck - just wanted you to know even if you aren't cheating sometimes the SW way just doesn't work

    Thanks saidan,

I dont eat too many carbs, I know about the theory that if you eat more calories than you burn you will gain or sts, but I am always exercising on the wii, and some days burn off up to 500 cals as the wii piggy tells me. :)

I am doing exactly the same as when I started, nothing different, so thats why I am puzzled.
Do you think I should give up the exercise for a bit?
    Thanks x

Total loss = 5 stone 12.5 lbs. / But now GAINED 1 STONE 1.5 LBS!!

Thank you all for your expertise :D
I take bisoprolol for the heart, ramipril for blood pressure, simvastatin and aspirin and amlodipine.
A few weeks ago I went to the docs because my pulse was very low, he took me off the amlodipine to see how I went, it did nothing for me, so he then blindly took me off my bisoprolol heart medication and within 2 days my heart was jumping out of my chest, so I had to go back on it, so instead he took me off ramipril until 2nd april, I am wondering because of the medications being stopped and started, would this affect anything?
    Clutching at straws now folks!:rotfl:

Hello all, I'm back (hello Maman, Evilsquid, Piglet!) I seem to have edged on at least half a stone since I dropped out of SW at my target, so am going back tonight. Art class has finished for summer (the nights clashed) so I have no excuse.

The biggest problem is working out what to wear knowing I shall be wearing it on Tuesday night for the next 3 months or so!

Good luck to all, will report back later (for instance, if it turns out my home scales weigh half a stone heaver than the SW ones do :rotfl: )
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

gettingthere54 - cutting down on food can sometimes send your body into starvation mode depending on how much you cut out. if it does that it hangs on to every calorie it can and lays down as much fat as it can with the food you give it. its a hangover from the times when food came and went and meant that if food did start to disappear, your body prepared for a possible complete lack of food by building up a store when it could. if you've been used to eating loads then have cut right down its possible your bodies started doing this to protect itself.

fruit can be very high in sugar so could you maybe switch to a salad at lunchtime instead? add some meat, fish, eggs or HEA cheese to make it more interesting.

do you not like normal water or herbal tea? it sounds like you aren't getting nearly enough liquids. does your fizzy water contain sweeteners? they can confuse your body because when your tongue tastes "sweet" it tells your body to prepare for a hit of sugar and it prepares to deal with it all but when the hit never comes it can send you off craving it because it thought it was going to get it and wants it.

i'm not advocating it, but if you are going to cut out/down food, you would be better off starting with cutting out sugar and alcohol (basically anything with a syn value) than cutting out real food. also, if you are in starvation mode then its likely that your syns are being converted straight to fat stores, especially the choccy because its full of sugar. if you are hungry at night, could you try and have some veggies, fruit or a protein source as opposed to chocolate?

blackberry-rum .. i have a set of ww scales at home that i use to weigh myself, but strangely, they will weigh accurately one day and up to 1lb heavier the next - oddly my friend has a set by the same brand and hers weighs 2lb heavier compared to the WI ones.

im not looking forward to WI this week... i wanted to hit my stone and a half target last week and was 1.5lbs off, but i cant seem to shift it still. my weight seems to have plateau'd this week rather annoyingly.

how has everyones week been so far? anything exciting happen?
I'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know

On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

I cannot drink just plain water as this makes me physically sick, so the only way I can drink water is to have the fizzy kind with a hint of lemon or lime, it does have sweeteners in though. I dont drink tea or coffee, herbal or not, never drink alcohol.
I have only cut down this last week because of the plateau that I seemed to have reached, but the wii scales are going up instead of down.
I have thought of having a blow out, shock my body into getting back into it. :D

what you should do all depends on your opinion of starvation mode - some people believe in it and say you are eating too little and the body is storing every calorie, other's don't and say how do people starve/anorexic then? (google it for more info)

if you believe in it - up your intake a bit and see what happens
if you don't, then look at dropping your syns a bit and see what happens

a shock day - or 'spike' day is commonly used to help shake the body into starting to loose again......some people spike once a week, or once a month to keep their body guessing.

the medications you are on shouldn't be making a difference - but with the exercise you do your heart rate may not reach an optimum level to burn fat......but you can't change that so no point worrying - as you have been on medication all along it shouldn't make a difference

the other thing is are you near your target? it gets harder the smaller you get i'm afraid to say.

    good luck!

    Saidan, thanks.

What you say does make sense, I want to lose another 21 pounds or so, so I am near my target.
After weigh in tomorrow I have decided to have a blow out, maybe a chip butty with butter on, and a mars bar.

Then on Thursday start again, writing every mouthful down, and cutting my syns in half. Changing my breakfast from toast to weetabix and banana, salad for lunch and meat, two veg and spuds for tea.
I will try to drink 1 litre of fizzy water a day and see how it goes. If I have no joy after a week I will speak to my consultant and ask him for the success express and see if that helps.
Can I say a big thank you to all who have replied to my query, your advice is invaluable and very much appreciated.
I will keep you updated on my quest :) xx
