Been directed to this thread from the Tesco Elite one(which I blame for my weight problems) and it's nice to see familiar 'faces'
Brilliant advice and support here and it's just what I need right nowI took a look at the minimins forum but I guess I just prefer MSE
(sorry in advance for a long post but I just feel I need to present the 'history') So there it goes:
I joined SW for the first time in my life last week SaturdayRead and heard a lot about it and thought I give it a go since I'm bored with starving myself impossible and the binging on chocolate
I always was 'big'a chubby child, the biggest teen in class/school
been only thinner twice in my life, first when I was about 15/16 years old and got obsessed with stomach crunches(we had some PE 'exam' at school and you got the highest note for 60+/minute so I was training hard to get it as it would mean my first and only highest note in PE in my life
) and also going out with friends, never at home, forgetting to eat... wasn't really a 'diet', it dropped off by accident and I didn't even notice until I balooned again
(I started running school cafe and was constantly munching on whatever was there
)
The next time was 'on purpose' and quite complicated and very unhealthy... A few years ago I saw my good friend loosing lots of weight very fast with some prescribed slimming pills so I went to my GP to get them too. And I guess the thought of it being possible(as I saw it with my own eyes) made it possible... I lost ca. 3 stones really fast but I also kind of changed my eating habits at the same time... I wasn't starving/depriving myself I just had 3 meals a day and no blow outs...
That was when I met my current boyfriend over 4 years ago
I then continued to loose weight without the pills but it was taking longer and was sts lots of the time... however I managed another 20lbs or so... then I went on holidays with bf and seeing all the slim girls around made me desperate to loose even more(never go to Ibiza if you're self-concius(sp?)), I was size 12/14 then but when we came back I decided to go on my 'own' diet which was only having liquids 5 days a week and eating/drinking what I wanted on the weekends  Ok, I lost another 12 lbs or so quite fast and was a size 10/12 it felt amazing and I was really proud of myself but then it kind of went out of the window:o:o I didn't watch what I eat anymore, had more and more chocolate which is my downfall, and the weight was coming back
ALL of it and more
I just looked down at the scales terrified every morning but couldn't get a grip and do anything
Until NOW :j I am really motivated and positive about SW and I really enjoy the food... A little worried about the carbs(pasta!spuds!rice!on a diet?!) but I'm following the plan and I am loosingI am on the scales every morning as I NEED to know, it motivates me...
I'll post my last few days diary and other 'blubber' later as I'm running off to see Mr T now
Sorry for the long post
But there is lots more I want to say
I'll do it later
Hope everyone has a nice, SW friendly day! :A
hi there, and welcome
what day is your official weigh in at group?
the best advice i could give anyone is trust in the plan, dont question it, just follow it,
its very hard to get your head around all the free foods, for me, it was spuds...HOW could they be free??? but i trusted it, followed the plan, and it works:j
i have 75lbs off in 36 weeks:beer:
also be prepared, make your lunch for the next day the night before, leave meat etc out of the freezer in the mornings, plan ahead what you are going to eat for the next week.
do you / can you exercise ?
i personally think you need to do a bit of exercise, i know some people have good losses without exercise, but in my experience, it is essential.
if you are following the Extra Easy plan, the 1/3 superfree food is also essential, IMO,
yeah, lots of people loose even while "tweaking" the plan, but for me, i wanted to do it right, not mess about with it, do it for once and for all!
good luck, keep us all posted with your journey;)0 -

thanks, pigletI read lots of pages back and I'm well impressed with your loss :T hope I can be as strong as you when I hit my first sts/gain phase
I am intending to stick to the plan and I even see the 'naughty' carbs as a treat  I always thought of them as bad for me and avoided them but I guess that's what keeps you full for longer... However I try to use wholewheat pasta, not a big rice eater but got some wild rice, love SW chips thoand will eat couscous too...
The funny thing is I am a big veg and fruit eater, I love meat and fish and most of the healthy stuff so it's ideal for me... I also mostly cook from scratch(don't even bother with the pasta'n'sauce things) as I enjoy it and I know I get to eat nice, healthy food... I'd even say most of my days are 2/3 superfree IF IT WASN'T FOR CHOCOLATEthis is my weak point and about 1-3 times a day I have craving for some choccy and milky coffee(I drink my coffee half/half and prefer whole milk too
) So now I try to keep my HE for those moments and have alpen light bar with coffee(sometimes just one but if I want another during the day it's then 5 syns for me
)
I also aim to have my days as low syn as possible to allow for any 'downfalls'(I wanted a Koppaberg cider this weekend so I had one, and then couple of chocolates during the week - the improvement is I'd normally polish off half of the box, but now I stop after 2 or 3 counting the syns and thinking 'don't ruin it for yourself! you can have some more tomorrow!' LOL)
now exercise:
I am quite young(26) and no health problems so yes, I can and I actually do!
I'm a nanny so lots of walks with a pushchair during the week(I have 3 weeks off now which are life saver really as I can get into SW properly!)
I also try to cycle to work as many times as I can(3-5 a week) which is ca. half an hour each way...
I used to do 500(yes, 500!LOL) stomach crunches A DAY when I was loosing weight last time(I know some theories say there are no real benefits from them but I swear they make your tummy nice and flat! When I was size 10/12 I had a pefect tummy) and I'm going to get into that again...
Also I will probably join my local gym(I used to work out a few times a week back then tooand do some swimming), gonna take the trial week first and see how it goes...
I have about 5 stones to looseI'm size 16/18 now and thighs are the biggest problem area and always were  I loose from the tummy first
then boobs  :rotfl:
but I will be patient and kind to myself and see how it goes
My WI day is Saturday morning...
I went to the group last week and the consultant is quite nice but 'group activities' were never something I liked(hate all gym classes etc.) so I hope it won't put me off...kandfs_mam wrote: »Hi czerniacha,

And some questions if you don't mind:
Am I eating too much fruit? I love fruit...I noticed myself I shouldn't buy grapes anymore as I munch on them constantly...
Are all the syn values correct? Where do I get syn values from if something isn't in the book?
How many syns in Starbucks coffee(latte, mocha)? I fancy it sometimes as a treat but have no idea if only milk counts as syns then?
what is the superspeed I've seen mentioned?
Thanks in advance :A0 -
ladies sorry to be a pain, but does anyone know roughly how many syns are in a quarter slice (actually smaller but anywho) of mince, carrot and onion pie that is shop bought from a butchers? the pie as a whole is roughly about 8-10 inches in diameter... thanks in advanceI'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know
On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!0 -
Well done Piglet and everyone else who has lost. Welcome new people
.
Hmmph I have gone way way off plan tonight. Feeling really stressed out. I have another driving test on friday and it was already looking fairly certain that I was going to fail but today I got a call from my driving instructer because she is sick so can't do my test or the lessons before.
She has suggested I take it in my parents car as I am insured to drive it and have been practising in it. It has just totally thrown me, I was already so nervous. I do feel a lot more comfortable in my parents car than my instructors but it sort of feels like added pressure which I wasn't expecting.
When I get stressed I just eat and eat0 -
