It's disheartening isn't it Poohbear? I am going on holiday in a few days and when I get back I shall be heading back to SW after a break of 18 months or so. I have put on almost a stone in the last year because I have had PTSD following an incident last Spring. It has left me unable to go out on my own and I can't always find someone to come with me so I am not getting the walking and cycling in like I used to. I'm also on medication and that can cause weight gain I believe.
Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Even when I went to SW I took forever to lose nearly 2 stones whereas other people it just fell off. I was like you, I stuck to it and exercised loads and I used to hate hearing people say "I can't believe I've lost 3 lbs this week because we had a chinese meal, went to a wedding reception and had 10 Gin and tonics on a night out!":(
I am pleased that I am not alone. It is good to have someone in a similar situation who understands. Though I am sorry to hear you have to be on medication because of PTSD. I have FM and arthritis and my GP is pleased I am not gaining any more. But I really want to lose some more. I can't get out much either as I need someone to drive me. My meds have messed up my eyes! We do have a wii somewhere so thinking I need to get it out and see if there is anything on there that I can manage.
I lost my first 2 stone with SW so joined on line a few months ago but still no changebusiness mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I am terrible for having sneaky home weigh ins - and usually several times a day! so in the morning in the ahem, buff then dressed then when I get home from work (if its weigh in day) or after I have eaten my evening meal.
Sometimes, if I've been good and its reflected on the scales then I relax a bit. Likewise, if the scales are not being nice then I usually think sod it and give up for the week! Hmmm, time to put them in the loft I think!0 -
My food diary for the day, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of this.
I also walked down to Aldi for more fruit and veg with DH and DD (in my case, Darling Dog) which was at least a mile round trip.
I don't usually eat breakfast on weekends since I have a lie in:
Lunch
Cauldron Sausages with stir-fried romaine lettuce and soy sauce
Chicken and Mushroom Pasta 'n' Sauce with peas and 2 Extra Light Laughing Cow triangles
Dinner
Salad with Caesar spray dressing
5 new potatoes

if you want korma, i think its up there with chicken tikka masala as pretty much the worst things to eat BUT if it is an important occasion i always tell myself it only happens once a year (or lifetime for a big birthday/anniversary) and i don't want to be a miserable party pooper going on about diets and what i cant have or sitting there with a face on because I've passed up a chicken tikka for something i didn't particularly want. nights like this are exactly what flexible syns are there for, the one night when you want to go out, have a good time and not worry about syns and diets.
Thanks evilsquid. I did have the korma in the end, *cough*and a naan too *cough* for exactly the reasons you said. I didn't want to be sat there being a miserable moaning minnie because I wanted what everyone else was having.
It was so so good though that I don't think I can even bring myself to feel that guilty about it haha. I'll need to do some damage limitation before WI though!0 -
I've actually put on weight now. Not sure how I can follow plan totally, do silver level 'body magic' and gain 2 pounds in 4 days - grrrrrr!
They had Chinese takeaway at work tonight, and I resisted having anything, beginning to wonder why I bothered.
My evening snack is sliced pink grapefruit on scan bran .....can you tell i'm getting desperate to lose now?!
Mimi - Glad you enjoyed your curry.0 -
Thanks debsjc. Well done for resisting the chinese take away, that takes some will power! It's so frustrating when you know you've done everything right isn't it. I felt exactly the same after WI last week as I'd been on plan 100% all week, which was the first time in about a month I'd done that, and lost almost nothing compared to losing 1-2 pounds in the weeks when I had slip ups! Keep going though, having grapefruit on scan bran sounds like true dedication to me!0

mm, I'd stop worrying about your mince 6% (& drain off any fat) should be absolutely fine. Are you making a SW version of lasagne? Otherwise there are far more syns to be found in the bechamel sauce and cheese topping than in the extra 1% fat in your mince.
ETA: and don't forget the garlic bread!:rotfl:
That was my thought too Maman. I made a huge lasagne using 500g 6% minced beef and 500g minced turkey. I added to the mixture - courgette, onion, carrot and peas, lots of cumin, paprika, soya sauce, tomato puree and freshly chopped parsley. For the base and the topping I made the tomato ragu from this month's magazine (pg 63) which was really good. I didn't use any cheese or any other kind of dairy with it and it was absolutely yummy - and no syns (if you don't count the extra 1% of minced beef!).
I also made the Chicken and Vegetable Casserole from this month's mag (pg 33) - it was very good too.Senora_Pie wrote: »Hi everyone
This week I'm the poster child for "it'll come off in the end". Have messed about all month with little loss, ill, gain, loss and then this week lost 7lbs :j:j I know I wasn't good enough, but I think the medications slowed things down and it just dropped this week. I almost fainted :rotfl:
1lb for my 3 stone now
Out for dinner tomorrow though (curry) and I have every intention of flex-synning it
Excellent result SP. I've also had several weeks of the same and hoping that it'll come to an end soon. My Mum goes home tomorrow - not that I haven't enjoyed having her here but between me being in her house and her being here and doing lots of things that I just wouldn't normally do, I'm looking forward to getting back into routine and hopefully seeing some weight off. I have five weeks to get to the 2 stone mark that I was aiming for but at this rate I'm not going to make it!poohbear59 wrote: »I am a little disappointed that despite thinking that I followed SW to the letter I had gained 0.5lbs at WI and am now the weight I was in Sept '10. I have no idea where I am going wrong. I am not feeling too good physically either so am not doing as much, maybe that is why I have gained. At the moment I am reducing doses of meds ready for starting something new. I was told that people usually lose weight when reducing these meds but that hasn't happened either.
I feel your frustration PB and believe me I know all about high doses of meds. I had an assessment a few weeks ago with an independent pharmaceutical advisor and she told me various things about my list of medication and suggested some changes, knowing that I'm desperately trying to lose weight. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow because I need to get a new prescription anyway and I'm going to show her the list and see what she says.
I'm also going to try and get some resistance bands as that's something you can do when you're not feeling up to getting out and doing lots of hard exercise but at least I'll feel as if I'm doing something. I have degenerative discs in my spine and some days I can barely move so getting out and walking is just not an option but I think I can probably do this a little.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
I tried that the first 2 weeks, but it just stressing me out. I was having sleepless night worrying if I had lost or not (even though I stuck to plan). Also I was wishing my life away until the next Tuesday. For me I would rather know how it's going, I am more chilled out about it that way.
I am exactly the same, you can do alot of damage in a week. Its so disheartening when you have been an angel tho and it doesn't show on the scales:(
Am intrigued by this dyno rod soup can anyone tell me what it is?Total weight lost 6.5/73lbs starting yet again. Afds August 10/15. /8 Sept.0 -
It's a soup with wonderful properties if you are a bit constipated - but it can be a bit 'windy' - your family may want you to move to the next county:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
The recipe can be found by going to the first page of this thread and there is a link you can click on to the S/W recipe thread - it's under soup...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Went out for lunch with the DD's and OH yesterday - we went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen and it was lovely!
I had the chilli chicken salad - it was divine - there was a dressing on it but it was very light - and I left all the cashew nuts ( I'm not bothered about nuts so I left the syns on the plate!) I have no idea how many syns were in it so I've said 15 and didn't eat anything that wasn't free for the rest of the day...
Tea was homemade, S/W friendly butternut squash soup - I threw loads of veggies from the fridge bottom in and a tin of cannellini beans and a tin of butterbeans to boost the Speed/SuperSpeed/Healthy/Fibre content.
I'm a bit fed up of roasts on a Sunday so OH is cooking a chicken pie for the family and I'm having tuna and a baked spud with loads of salad and veggies...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0
