    Hi all

On the booze front - I have just checked SW website syns calculator and a 25ml pub measure of gin or vodka is 2.5 syns; 35ml measure is 4 syns - all the pubs around here serve 25ml.

    hope this helps. x

the SW webiste gives it as 4syns for the 50g pack
and 7.5 for the 90g tube, on all plans.
I WI at the gym and I've lost another pound :)

cande - i use aromat all the time. for the amount i use it'd end up at 0.25 syns or less a go and would just get ridiculous trying to count it so i use it as free.

Thank you for your replies piglet and evilsquid, I am now gonna do a quick :j:j:j as its pretty much free - a woooohoooo

Another hectic day with work but here's today's food:

    breakfast - mullerlight & a banana
    snack - pear & satsuma
lunch - home made lentil soup, alpen light bar (1/2 HEB) & satsuma
    snack - cooked turkey & a pear
dinner - 2 bowls of lentil soup; satsuma
snack - 1 ryvita (1/2 HEB) dipped in syn free chilli as it's cooking (I only realised 25mins ago that the mince in the fridge has todays date on it so there's a pot of chilli been made for tomorrow night's tea and I just had to sample it!)

No HEAs yet but I might have a couple fo ryvita with light laughing cow shortly to use my syns.
As I normally try to save my syns for weekend booze, I am finding it a struggle to get into the mindset of using them every day just now when I am cutting back on the booze - I'm not going out for another 3 weeks so I'm attempting a dry spell until them to try to keep the weiht loss momentum going.

Does anyone know if you really can totally set your own target. I joined just wanting to drop from a size 20-22 to a size 16, but as I swim a lot and have some muscles I think that will keep technically with an 'obese' BMI. Will SW accept a target that gives me a BMI of over 25? Thanks

    Yes they will.

Lost 2.5 lbs this week, so that's last week's gain gone plus an extra 2. What a relief. Mind you I've stuck strictly to plan all week so I deserve it!

Now I just have to negotiate a meal out with the family on Sunday, but I feel I'm learning to make better choices so should manage it without too much damage.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Hi all, would anyone be so kind as to tell me if Shape Delights 0% yogurts are free? Also are all mug shots free or only some of them. Thanks very much for any help.

Sorry Karen but I couldn't find mug shots (too late to think)

Shape are free on cherry and strawberry and just half a syn for other flavours.

if you do lots of exercise BMI is a useless measure. rugby players and athletes are morbidly obese according to their BMIs because it doesn't take into account muscle or body fat %.

with my target, this time I'm going for "healthy". i want to look good and feel good. if that is at my old target then brill if it is higher then i equally don't mind. i don't want to tie myself to numbers too much because i got fixed on what the scales said. i figure somewhere ive got a weight thats going to be my bodies ideal to still be strong and healthy and it'll prob let me know when it gets there by fighting me trying to loose more.

i know the thai one is 0.5 - i eat that all the time. the cheesy one was more thou, tastes bad anyway :o
  • Back to my question about extra lean minced beef - I asked my consultant by email and this was the information she sent me -

MINCE - ALL 100G RAW WEIGHT
EXTRA LEAN - LESS THAN 5% FAT FREE
    LESS THAN 12% FAT - 2.5
    LESS THAN 20% FAT - 6.5
    MORE THAN 20% FAT - 9

I spent about 30 minutes in the supermarket yesterday examining every bloody package of minced beef and the lowest I can find here is 6%. I am making a big lasagne for lunch tomorrow as we have guests coming but I bought a mixture of minced beef (6%) and minced turkey and I'm going to add a ton of veggies too so hopefully that will keep the actual amount of beef that I'm eating down to a minimum.

how many of us suffer from that downfall of night time snacking...:o guilty as charged!!

my best advice for anyone on the SW plan is to try and eat free all day, save your syns for nighttime, and try and get as much value as possible for the 10 / 15 syns.

i would have a bag of WW Crisps and a curley wurly (10 in total) or a bag of foxes mini party rings (6) and hot chocolate (2) or the wee cadburys animal biscuits, they come in multi bag packs, 11 small buscuits in a wee bag, 5 syns:j and cause you get 11, you really feel like you are having something.

i also like Freddos, Chomps, WW Raspberry n white choco cookies....actually i like most of the WW cookies, and they are wrapped in packs of 2. (possibly to stop you from gorging the box!:D)

another tip that helps me, is if i am STARVING and thing i am going to have something bad, i have some free things before...
eg...an apple, a muller lite, some ham / chicken, THEN - when the hunger is off me - i will have a curly wurly...

or what else i do (sorry folks if these are all useless tips, i am just thinking of what i do) is i put my syns out onto a wee plate...so i might have a plate with a few jaffa cakes, a freddo, etc...and i know...what that plates done...thats it...no more!!!

Thanks very much Piglet for this!! Much appreciated, did try harder yesterday:

B: Marions rice, muller & fruit
    Snack: banana & Alpen light
    L: Jacket spud & beans
D: Beef casserole, lots of veggies, mashed spuds (syns in gravy as I used granules??). Muller & bits of a merangue (sp)nest.

later on: more rice & muller, an orange
HEA was milk in tea & tiny sprinkle of cheese on spud/beans

Anyone know the syns for my chocolate coated rice cakes please??? Do you need any more info from the packet? I'm hoping they're not too bad as I am seriously addicted:rotfl:TIA if you can help....

mm, I'd stop worrying about your mince 6% (& drain off any fat) should be absolutely fine. Are you making a SW version of lasagne? Otherwise there are far more syns to be found in the bechamel sauce and cheese topping than in the extra 1% fat in your mince.

ETA: and don't forget the garlic bread!:rotfl:
