Sorry I've been AWOL, lost 9lb in total now. VERY pleased as I feel I have broken a lot of bad habits and learned some new ones. Not as much as I had hoped to lose but then I always hope to lose a stone a day :P ;) so I'm very pleased with that. Setting mini-goals has helped me quite a lot so I will do that more often, just 5lb and 7lb and 10lb goals to aim for.

Huh ? I also thought Onken fat free yoghurts were free - aren't they? Can someone confirm this?

Well done on the weight loss. We had a big discussion on onken yoghurts in our class on Monday and our onsultant said that only the vanilla onken is free and the rst are synned. Hope this helps

Hello all. I am FULL of a filthy cold. Spent the day in bed yesterday and feel as bad today, but had to come to work as we have a busy week. Bleargh.

On the upside I lost some weight as I hardly ate anything yesterday. However I'm going out to YO Sushi at lunchtime to meet a friend and am wondering about SW and sushi. In theory it seems like a match made in heaven - fish and rice - but on a bit of googling and looking at the website it seems that there are some syns involved. I kind of fancy a chicken noodle soup thing - always good for colds - but what do you think? Could happily have some miso soup and nigiri as well.

I just checked the website and it's only the natural, fat free Onken which is free. All flavours have syns, vanilla has 5 per pot. Personally I rarely eat yogurt other than added to dips, curries or as a topping for fruit so I'm OK with the natural ones. It must be really hard for those who've enjoyed things then the syn value changes.

WI for me today and I've got back into target range (just).:j I think I'll have another week with plenty of HEXs (and syns:o) to get myself well back in the safety zone. It's a fine line as if I get to enjoy the treats too much it'll be difficult to rein back in.

Thanks for the info on the Vanilla Onken - I'll correct my consultant at the next meeting! :)

I normally eat Mullerlight as I thought they were all free but I bought a multi pack of the chocolate sprinkled ones - OMG lush by the way - but unfortunately the ones with a cherry layer in the bottom have 1.5 syns! From the website the lemon cheesecake ones have 1 syn as do the inspired by yoghurt strawberry cheesecake one.

  • Fantastic thread- still trawling through it. Have taken on board the tip of just concentrating on losing half a stone at a time, which seems more achievable.

I have all the SW books, back issues of magazines so won't be joining a regular class, but popping in here for support & tips if thats ok. Starting weight 18st 6 (GULP) Thankfully I don't know anyone here so I can remain anonymous. I would be mortified to reveal my weight to anyone I know (even DH who is my best friend).

I am 40 in October 2013 so I am giving myself a nice long time to achieve my goal. I am coonscious that my body has worked very well up until now, but it won't forever so I need to get sorted NOW. I am so ashamed that I let myself balloon to a size 18/20 (I do carry the weight pretty well.

Loving the idea of lots of lovely low syn or free snacks in the evening as that is my danger time. Yesterday evening I had an Oatso Simple Honey & Almond sachet with milk, mixed in frozen berries, large cup of tea and banana. That kept me satisfied (I hate the feeling of being hungry).

The Directory I have with the list of Supermarket foods is from 2007! So do not contain the Syn Values of Oatso Simple ranges. If anyone could pass them on I would be grateful.

Does anyone have any tips on low syn snacks I coud buy for myself for evenings? My preference is savoury so I have skips/french fries. I need to get my head fully around the EE plan (I have the book showing what the plan is)so any help whilst I do this, would really be appreciated.

Got Quorn curry & rice for tea. Had poached eggs, & beans on toast for Breakfast. Not sure about lunch yet.

Oh Mrs Optimist, you sound so like me. I will be 40 in August 2013 and am determined to shift this weight. I weighed in at 17st 13lb which I can admit on here but could never admit to anyone in the "real" world. I am heavier than my DH who is 6'4" whilst I am just 5'7". You must carry the weight really well if you are just a size 18/20, I am an ample size 22 though with the losses in the last 5 weeks my clothes are certainly feeling looser.

Good luck on your journey, I am in it for the long haul too.

ETA - the almond & honey oat so simple sachet is 6 syns dry (ie before milk)

If you go to the first post on page 1 of this thread you'll find a link to the recipe thread.

click on that link and scroll down - dynorod soup is in the soup category.

It si effective - but it can make you 'windy' - your family may not appreciate it....
