My food is not going well today. I was out shopping for ages, so I just had a banana at lunch time, and didn't get my vegtable soup till 4pm. This has given me a migrane, and I can't face eating cheese tonight so I won't be having my HEA today.

Have they changed the values of the Activia snack pots? When I was doing SW before they were all free except the peach ones, I've had a few of these in the last 2 weeks, so I hope they are not too bad. Does anybody know if the normal size pots of activia are free, as I often see good offers on these, but am unsure of the syns.

As they keep seeming to change the values of everything, could someone please tell me if Mackrel in tomato sauce is still free, as its one of my staples, I have it most days with a jacket spud and salad and would be most upset if it has syns now.

Also going back to the Quorn sausages that I asked about recently, I know that the 'best ever' Quorn sausages are now synned, but the last 2 packets I bought had no mention of best ever on them, it wasn't until today that I saw a bag of quorn mince that said best ever that I knew what the packet looked like - so my questions are: are the ones I've got still free? Does the 'best ever' mince have syns in it? and also, if the sausages are synned now, is there a supermarket own brand of vegetarian sausages that are free or very low syns??

    Sorry for rambling on :o

the activia fat free mango, cherry, raspberry, mandarin and vanilla are coming up as free. the fat free peach are 0.5. all the other activia yogurts with 125g portion sizes are syned and most are 3 or 3.5 a pot.

mackrel in brine/sauce is still listed as free.

quorn reformulated a while ago now so there may still be old stock out there but there won't be much of it left. the tastier sausages are 0.5 each and best ever are 1. linda mccartney Red Onion & Rosemary Sausages are free, cauldron are 0.5. the basic value for vegetarian sausages is coming up as 1.5 each, i think it was just quorn that used to be free anyway, thats why we all ate them so much :rotfl:

I buy the activia fat free vanilla and thought they were free. Have these all now changed? I also had the cherry fat free. Will be totally !!!!!! off if they are synned as just found out Onken isn't free and eat that a lot too. Wish they would leave stuff alone 'if it aint broke don't !!!!in fix it':mad::mad::mad::mad:

Oh just tried the new look forum, looks ok to me. Have noticed names and avatars now at top of post instead of side. I am a serious moneysaving fan with 2 stars and a medal [whatever that means ] pmsl

they are free apart from peach that is 0.5, the SW site was being its useful helpful self when i first looked! it kept jumping me around the different pages and not showing all of them.

Do you have to have 2 HEA's and 2HEB's - I did green yesterday and couldn't find room for 2 of each. Is it worth it or would you be overeating if you just eat it for the sake of it?

    Appreciate thoughts xx

Although you don't have to eat HEXs at all they are in the plan because they're good for your health. I'd check that you're getting plenty of calcium other ways if you don't like dairy - sardines are good.

WI for me tomorrow and I'm hoping to have gained a bit.:)

Thanks for getting back to me so quick evilsquid, I do hope you get the consultants job as you are a real fountain of knowledge.

After reading your post after this one are we definitely saying that they are ALL free except peach? Also do you happen to know whether the small pots are free or synned.

:j:j:j on the mackrel still being free :D:D:D

I'll have to try the other sausages, coz I'll be pretty upset to have to take them off my Full English menu :(. When I was doint it last time, I tried the Linda Mcartney ones as they were on offer (not sure what flavour) but I didn't like them as much as the quorn ones :(

thank you :) hopefully i'll hear back soon.

it looks like if its fat free and not peach its free. are the small pots 100g? thats the smallest pot size it has on there and they are all free.

i had the linda mccartney sausages ages ago and they were really weird. like they'd tried to match the texture of a proper sausage and match the flavouring with artificial flavours and just not got either of them right.

there are low syn pork sausages now, a thin sausage is coming up as 2.5 and reduced fat thin is 1 and reduced fat thick 2. if you are going to spend syns either way, it might be worth trying a low fat proper one. thats what I've done, theres barely a difference in syns.

Thank you again evilsquid, its good to know that the small activia are free to as I'm sure I saw the 12 or maybe it was 8 pack for £2 somewhere, at least it offers more options for free yoghurts.

As for the sausages if I've got to spend syns on them I'd still rather have the quorn ones, I would feel more satisfied having 1 quorn sausage for 1 syn rather than a low fat thin sausage (obviously my eyes do my eating!!!) and they are really handy, because they are frozen I can use them anytime I do the family normal sausages rather than have a packet of chilled low fat that might go to waste.

Thank you for all your help on the matter and I think I will stick with quorn :D

Beki.. you could try this http://swrecipestodiefor.blogspot.com/2010/05/dietgirls-syn-free-pizza-base-using.html

Uses wholemeal bread mix from Tesco - two Heb's for all of it.. i haven't checked if it's still correct for a while though so i'd double check the recipe for syns before you use it.

You could also try the smash pizza base or the scone recipe one.. these should be free on green/ee days..
What do you mean by two HEB's I thought you could only have one?

I found something which I fell in love with...I found that I do actually have a co-op a short drive from me, so got some of the wholemeal pitta's.

    Tea was:
1 pitta (heb) tom puree (free) and mozeralla (hea). Om nom nom even OH thought it was yummy!
Problem was they were so nice I wanted another but instead I had:
    2 slices of ham
    huge pile of salad
jacket potato, added 1 tbs of lighter than light mayo (0.5 syn) and 1 light laughing cow triangle (1.5 syns).

WI tomorrow  I know I won't have lost but I am putting last week behind me and working on putting it right :)

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)
  • Beki on a green or red day you can have two HEA and two HEB. its to make up for the fact that on G or R the list of free food is missing either meat or pasta/potatoes/grains so the second HEB was so you could have a measured portion of what wasn't free food on the day you have. e.g. on red potatoes are a measured HEB not free and on green a piece of chicken is a measured HEB not free.

its all in your food optimising book if you have a read. green is basically all the green and orange pages and red is all the red and orange pages.

Sorry I've been AWOL, lost 9lb in total now. VERY pleased as I feel I have broken a lot of bad habits and learned some new ones. Not as much as I had hoped to lose but then I always hope to lose a stone a day :P ;) so I'm very pleased with that. Setting mini-goals has helped me quite a lot so I will do that more often, just 5lb and 7lb and 10lb goals to aim for.

Huh ? I also thought Onken fat free yoghurts were free - aren't they? Can someone confirm this?
