Sorry, a couple of things I forgot to say. Onken fat free yoghurt recipe has changed, and now has syns.
My mum roasted (with fry light) celeriac the other day, and it's lovely, quite potato like. If you were on a red day it would be a great potato substitue, and it's a superfree.
Has anyone cooked the ginger scan bran cake? I'm going to try it tomorrow.
mmm would love to know how the ginger cake is - would i be able to substitute ryvita for scan bran???Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -
Sorry I didn't get back on here yesterday. Thank you for the welcome back. I have taken the advice of some of you and had a green day today. I will list what I have eaten below.
piglet I was already wondering about buying some pudding rice for my night time munchies, but it is much more sensible to have some for breakfast as a change from porridge.
shala_moo I stopped buying yoghurts because of the cost but I will take your advice and next time I am in town I will buy some. I used to make my own but got out of the habit of it.
I have been making dyno rod soup and have a few others I make if I find super cheap vegetables. Funnily enough I made a veggie dahl at the weekend and made it last a few days.
I live 25 miles from major supermarkets so don't get there very often and as I rely on others for lifts I can't choose my time to go shopping for bargains. The local co-op (5 miles away) sometimes has 'bargains' which are in fact more expensive than the standard price supermarkets. The only one that delivers is Mr A and we have had major problems with our orders, falling out of the back on a steep hill near us, swaps, or the fact that they didn't believe my quantities, so reduced them.
debsjc:( so sad I can't grab the bargains but I chose to live here.
maman, I find the cost of fruit and vegetables my biggest problem. I have copious amounts of cheap carrots and onions but lack the variety I feel I need to make this work properly.
I can only shop every two weeks for food and can't make things last that long so have been buying in a lot of frozen vegetables. sadly my nearest Aldi has had no frozen fruit for weeks now and I do miss it. I checked and tinned fruit is syned.
So today I have had;
porridge (HEB) made with milk (HEA) for breakfast with a satsuma
lunch a tin of baked beans
Dinner chilli con carne made with quorn mince, baked beans and chopped tomatoes, with basmati rice. If it is a green day the rice is restricted though isn't it and I am hungry.
milk in tea (HEA)business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

Intrigued by the references to Dynorod soup!!0

Just popping in for inspiration.;) I need to get back to SW and I just can't motivate myself.
I think if and when I do get back I will just do the Original/Green I really feel that the EE plan messed me up somehow and I thought I could eat anything.:(0 -

i don't think that pizza base recipie is right. you can only class wholemeal bread itself as a HEB, not the basic constituents of wholemeal bread made up into something else. pizza base is still a "bread" product and made with the same basic ingredients but it isn't really bread and wouldn't count as bread in the way SW view it.
proper bread thats proven properly is full of air pockets and bulky and so keeps you full for longer, pizza bases are thin and stodgy and won't keep you full as long, which is the whole principle SW works on. a pizza base is 11 syns according to the website, and working it out from the quantities the recipe calls for they just about match.
the bread mix they use will be wholemeal flour and yeast. to syn this is 12 syns for the 75g of wholemeal flour and about 0.5/1 syn for the yeast that will be in it. thats not counting extra additives and preservatives which may add on more syns on top. i cant find a single syn value for a box of bread mix, wholemeal or white, but a box of pizza base mix which is just a bread mix tweaked a bit is 14.5 syns.0 -
Hi all
Well done on all the losses.
I had weigh in this morning and had put on a 1lb, not really that worried as thought it would be more and it has now given me the determination to get back on track.
Take care

Evilsquid - i see what you mean but i found this when searching for a pizza base and it had been verified by slimming world that it was allowable to use whish is why i did it.. can't find the link at the moment though.
As i said i haven't checked that it is still ok to use as the bread mix may have changed since it was first published.
I will go and have a check on google see if i can find anything...

For a syn free pizza base all you need is 6 eggs beaten and then add some spinach. I buy the frozen stuff which is in the little nuggets and defrost 10 or 12. You need to squeeze all the liquid out of the spinach before you mix with the beaten eggs. Just spread it out in a tray and bake in the oven till it is set. Loosen it from the tin and then add the toppings you like. I will quite happily 'waste' a couple of syns on some tomato ketchup and then cover it with peppers, sweetcorn, peas or whatever veggie is your poison. Top with some of your HEa cheese - mozzarella is good
Pop under the grill and serve with SW chips and some salad.
You could end up with a pizza for 2 syns that will feed 4Mags - who loves shopping0 -

on the SW site in the recipe bit they have scan bran pizza and one using the same idea as me, get a box of pizza base mix and divide the mix up into smaller portions so lower syns. they've also got the one using chicken as a base.
theres a few mentions of using a toasted wholemeal roll or two slices of WH bread as a base too in some of the articles if you search for "pizza" but that is still using actual properly made bread so still technically your HEB, not the ingredients made into something else.
EDIT: i googled and it looks like someone's consultant has said ONLY the tesco crusty wholemeal bread mix itself (as in contents of box, not made up in any way) was a HEB at some point. its not on the new list on the SW website so the mix itself is not a HEB but made up as a bread loaf/roll would be a HEB as long as it was proper bread and measured. if they were counting the bread mix itself as the HEB then now it is all syns as Wholemeal flour is a syned food. if they were trying to get it by as in "I've made WH bread and I'm having my HEB serving of it" id say because it isn't proven bread and not very bulky SW would now say it has to be a syn.
tbh, if we could get away with this, i don't think SW would be telling us to do pizza bases by buying a box of mix and dividing it up into small portions, on top of a chicken or on toast, they would have publicised the fact we can have a whole full size pizza on SW like they do with SW chips.0
