  • Hello everyone!
I have a potato related question!! I recently bought a bag of potatoes from Morrisons - they're normal white potatoes. The thing is, they just won't cook!!
I can boil them in water for well over 20 minutes, all cut to the same size cubes, and they still feel hard in the middle.
Has any one else had this? I'm thinking they may have been frost damaged in the ground or something. I cook a lot and have never had this issue before. Just curious...!

I haven't some across that, but have you got a microwave?
Before I roast potatoes, or make wedges, or put baked potatoes in the oven, I always soften them first in the microwave.

WI last night, lost 2.5 lbs and got my half stone. That's 10% of what I need to lose (but probably the easiest 10%!)

I'd also go with the microwave for the hard spuds.

Hope you have good news soon evilsquid!
Oh dear, here we go again.

Bonjour all. I ventured onto the scale sthis morning and it wasn't too bad. Got a hard few days coming though - going to the Ivy tonight (get me! WOrk do), away at my father's over the weekend which always entails a lot of red wine just to get through it, and then a 60th birthday party to go to on the SUnday for a couple of foodies who always do the most delicious spreads. Then it's valentine's day - although we've alreadfy ordered slimming world friendly food - going to have the Roast monkfish tails on puy lentils that is int he little Muller cookery book that came with the most recent issue, followed by banana and pear trifle (also SW friendlY).

Just hoping to hold steady really, and then will really tackle the losing next week. WIll be going back to the gym/yoga next week too so that will help.

I finally went to a meeting yesterday to get the new pack. The consultant was lovely, unfortunately couldnt stay for the whole group as had to get back and look after DD but i did get the newbies talk. Originally went just to get my grubby paws on the new pack but think i might go back for the motivation.

I haven't stopped this morning. Half hour walk done in the snow, lemons and limes chopped up and frozed. Veggie soup & half-syn cake made, 2 lots of washing up done. Lunch and dinner cooked/prepared. Nearly time for a nap before my night shift.
