I don't want to be right at the bottom of my weight scale but 11st is my goal, I like having a little junk in my trunk!! When I was in my last group, I was teased about being 'skinny' so I would rather not have that this time because even if I don't have a lot to lose, I don't like the idea that I'm less welcome at the groups than someone who has more to lose. I also remember going into Evans to buy some shoes as I'm a size 9 and I love their shoes. One of the customers took one look at me and said, quite nastily 'they don't make your size here, go and shop in New Look'. At the time I was a 14-16 so they did sell my size but that's besides the point! xx
Unfortunately there are some very bitter people about and this kind of comment is a prime example of it.Mediterranean Mum

I think it's a bit of the green-eyed monster!
I would say that as a taller person myself it was very easy to get away with extra weight for a long while, people really don't notice. Good posture, carefully chosen outfits etc all helped me kid myself (and others) I was only a tiny bit overwight. But scales don't lie and 3.5 stone later, I like what they say to me now!;)
For fruit and veg in this country, Lidl and Aldi are about the best value. There are still markets but the criticism I've heard of them is that the f & v often has to be eaten quickly.0 -
I don't know Aldi but I know Lidl and have bought F&V there with my Mum - it looked fine to me and their prices seemed good - although I'm talking about a year ago now. I know things are really bad in the UK economy-wise and it's disgusting that simple good-for-you things like F&V are so expensive.Mediterranean Mum

Goldilockz, I definitely understand your angst. I'll be going to group next week for the first time after going it alone for a while - it's only for a couple of weeks but it'll also get my Mum in the front door which she wouldn't do otherwise so fingers crossed.
Mediterranean Mum: It's good to know I'm not alone! I'd love my mum to come with me or to have someone else for moral support, but I've just moved to a new area and my mum and friends are 3 hours away. I do think that having your mum there will remove some of the nervousness. You're brave to join a group after going it alone, bravo! It'd be great to find out how you get on at the group xx
P.S. I agree that there are a lot of bitter people out there who compare themselves to others and feel the need to make nasty remarks to make themselves the 'bigger man'. I'm delighted to have found such a supportive community here though. I just phoned my SW consultant and she immediately put my mind at rest, she was lovely! Really looking forward to tonight0 -
Glad you called her and good luck for this evening.
I don't live in the UK so don't have a group to go to but will be visiting my parents for 10 days and thought I'd go along just to see what I'm missing! I also want to get all the materials that I don't have and could really do with and of course there's my other motive of getting my Mum there. She's going on a cruise in June and I really want her to try and lose some weight before she goes. She's very like me - will find every excuse under the sun as to why she can't lose!!!!Mediterranean Mum

Ahh, that's a great idea to go along to a group. You'll get all the resources you'll need. It's funny you should mention your eating habits are very like your mum's as the same applies to me and my mum, though she's more of a Weight Watchers fan than Slimming World. It would be good if your mum is able to lose a little weight before the cruise and I'm sure she'll feel much better for it. I'm off to Iceland at the end of March and even though I doubt the weather will be sun-bathing friendly, I'd still like to feel a little better in my body by then! xx0 -
1lb loss for me this week and I am gutted which I know is ridiculous but I can't help it. My consultant told me not to be daft and that she is pleased I managed to lose 1lb after my 5lb loss last week but I have so much to lose that a weight loss of 1lb per week really makes me realise how long this is going to take
now I just need to keep focussed and not get the lugs down or I will straight into the sweetie cupboard!Mortgage Aug 22 £280,000

Wow K&F that's almost half a stone in two weeks - I would be really pleased if I were you. Try and not get disheartened - you're going in the right direction and you have to accept that this is how we have to eat now so we just have to get used to it and learn to love it.
Just keep doing what you're doing cos it's obviously working for you.Mediterranean Mum

Thanks MM - I know I'm being ridiculous; I just thought I'd had a really good week and was hoping the scales would drop down below the next stone - damn you * weekMortgage Aug 22 £280,000
