  • I've just had a lightbulb moment!!!! Now you're going to think I'm really really stupid, but I just realised that when I feel like grazing that's when I should be using my syns!!!!!!!!!!!! Duh!!!

So it was 4pm and I'm thinking "I want to eat something".... what to eat? Normally this is the time that I would have my HEB sandwich but on Tuesdays I have my HEB at breakfast cos I'm at my early morning meeting and then I end up binging at 4pm.

So I walk into the kitchen and look around me, inside the fridge, inside a few cupboards and then I look on top of the fridge and there's the kids peanut butter snack sitting there and I think this is what I want. The the lighbulb lights up - flipping heck I can have that I just need to count the syns!!!!

I've been so obsessed with using my syns for techina and light mayo that I don't actually ever use them as they're meant to be used and that's why I end up pigging out. It's so bloody simple why didn't I get it before!!!!!

So now I had it and feel so much better. However I'd be grateful if someone could put it through the syn calculator for me as I guess there are about 4 or 5 syns in the packet -

    15g packet -
    calories - 80
    protein - 2.6g
    carbs - 5.9g
    fat - 5.1g
    cholesterol - 0
    sodium - 63

not the healthiest snack and I won't be having it every day but at least I know I can have it if I need it!

    thanks

hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j

If I were you I'd report her to head office - why pay money for that?

2 girls actually said last nite that they were thinking about changing group to go to another, which would be maybe 6 miles away, as opposed to our currenty group , one mile away!

we agreed we would stick with it for now, that we are the support for each other, and not the consultant!

funny, i did initially say "im not paying a fiver for a snotty response like that"!:o (not to consultant, to my mum!)

Mint mullers? I MUST HAVE SOME! :rotfl:

How long have you been on the depo for, Piglet? I know when I was on it I put on 3 stone very quickly and found it all but impossible to shift any weight until I'd been off it for six months :( If you've only recently gone on it that could be a factor definitely. But please keep going, you're my inspiration :D As suggested previously, why not try upping your syns to the maximum, or having maximum one day and minimum the next. Shake your body up a bit in case it's got a bit comfortable.

I've made my first foray into dyno rod soup! It's bubbling away (in the slow cooker, not me yet!) as I type.

i was on it for 2 years, (1995 / 97)then come off it to have a baby (in 1998) then went back on it again (1999 to 2008) then come off it for a while, and now im back on it since 2010.

now, when i first went on it in 1995 i was 9stone 10.:D when i started SW in July 2011 i was 18.1:o

now i am 13.10.5, and i dont know if depo will stop me getting to my target (11.12) but if anyone who is currently on it has any suggestions / trouble getting to target / trouble loosing weight etc i would be very interested in hearing wot you think

    thanks in advance :A

thanks so much for all the kind words....it really does reinforce my belief that i can do it without the consultant being any use!!

last nite my mum text to say "how do you feel now, you will stick with it and get there".:D...really something the consultant could have done!

you can be sure if i ever get to target, she will claim me as one of her success stories!!!

i currently have the 2nd biggest loss ever in that group (my mum has the biggest!)

Sounds to me as if you and your mum are doing well in spite of the consultant not because of her piglet. I assume the ladies who go to another group pay £7 for transport as I though all the classes cost the same. I'm afarid I don't know about depo but I have heard that many medications can cause problems. Perhaps you need to talk it through with your doctor? Meanwhile I'd agree with mm. Talk to Head Office about her, she's taking money under false pretences if she's not checking food diaries or answering calls.

I've just made a big pot of syn free curry sauce. I had a bag of turkey pieces in the freezer from Christmas that needed using up but almost as many went into my mouth as in the curry!

    Mint Mullers? Eew, sound disgusting!

Debsjc - Thanks for the dressing recipe, will try that tomorrow with my prawn & pasta salad. Look forward to the half syn cake one.

FC - your butternut & pepper soup is delish, thank you.

Piglet - Try not to get disheartened. I think you are doing right to take a break and then go back to it feeling a bit more relaxed. We are all rooting for you. And I'd definitely report the consultant, she sounds dreadful - you are the customer after all and she is not providing you with what you need. ETA - and what you are paying her £5 a week for!
Oh dear, here we go again.

sorry, should have explained this bit...

we live in N Ireland, tho right on the border, my neighbours go to a class in ROI, so they are paying euros for the class, which is E11, or £7 sterling.

so they would prefer to pay that, than go to our local £4.95 class, cause they dont like the consultant.

theres some terrific girls go to my group, without both them and my mum, i would be totally lost

tho my mum tells people, she would be lost without me, and theres nights she doesnt want to walk only i drag her! :D

    she has lost 4 stone 10.5lbs :D

im so please for her, she had 1.5 stone off when i joined and was feeling totally lost, was messing about with the same few lbs, on and off, and off and on, and making no headway at all. so she always thanks me for going and giving her the kickstart she needed.

shes very good at the cooking, im good at the exercising and the syns, we live very close to each other and are great support for each other :D

  • Piglet - it's wonderful that you and your mum support each other like this. I really want my mum to go but I know she won't go on her own and I'm not there. As I intend joining her local group when I'm in the UK in a couple of weeks I'm hoping to take her with me so that she can have two weeks with me and see what it's like. She's then coming back with me for two weeks so I'm hoping that she'll continue while she's staying with me.

OK so I've had my 3rd 100% SW day and really pleased - especially as this morning was my early morning meeting which has sent me off kilter every week until now. Really hoping that the gain this week will miraculously fall off if I can keep up the good work. I haven't done any exercise as I've got a lot of back problems at the moment but I'm going to try and ease back into it tomorrow with 15 mins on the dreadmill in the morning and then hopefully another 15 in the afternoon.

    Today's been like this -

    Tuesday 31 January 2012
B-2 slices w/m bread, techina, cucumbers, tomatoes, roasted peppers, roasted aubergine and roasted sweet potato - HEB
    S-2 bananas
L-Tuna and Egg Salad – cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, spring onions, red pepper, beetroot, tuna, egg, seasoning, 1 tblspn light mayo – 2 syns
    S-persimmon; 2 x bamba; noodles & cabbage – 8 syns
D- Leek & Potato Soup; Mexican Bake - HEA
    Mediterranean Mum

hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j
