Heading for winter with Slimming World

Hi everyone - just caught up with all the posts since I was here on Friday.
I've had a really bad week and I'm dreading WI tomorrow - sure I've put all that I lost last week back on!!!!
I'm definitely part of the sabotage brigade. As soon as people start saying things - have you lost weight/you look good/you're doing so well - it's like a green light to go ahead and eat whatever I can find.
I get to 7-10 kgs down every time and then wham it's eat for England! I'm determined not to give in to it this time but this week, and especially the weekend, I've just not bothered and eaten whatever I like. The main culprit was bread but my stomach is really paying me back this morning. I went out last night to celebrate a friend's wedding and sat there with my big salad and stuffed myself with the bread and butter on the table - PIG!!!!
OK so it's a new week and I'm going out to Wholefoods now to stock up on veggies and fruit. I have a business meeting in my house this evening and I've already told them that there will only be fruit and veggies on the table!
I also have a streaming cold which isn't helping matters but going to cook up a huge pot of soup to warm me up - it's so cold here at the moment.Mediterranean Mum

I can relate so much to the self sabotage, why do we do it? well I am a long time lurker, dont post often but read all the time. I am 46 years old and have just found out that I have severe osteo arthritis in my ancles and early arthritis in my hips. I am being referred to a surgeon for my right ancle. so I really need to stop messing around and follow the plan with no tweaking. i dont know why i am so indignant when i dont lose as much as i want when i am following my own variation of the plan. so now i am determined. I will keep using this forum for inspiration. because even when there are gains, small loses, triumphs, I relate to it all. We can get there, I love the fact that a "dripping tap will still fill a bucket"._starting again! 06/01/15___________________________________0

hi all
thanks for all the replies - it is not just me then
i'm glad to say i did not give in - stayed in bed with my giant cup of tea, then brushed my teeth telling myself no more food.
but - my tummy was rumbling bad
ammonite - i can eat milk, yogurt and cheese too. thats it. no meat/fish etc as it has upset me everytime i have tried. seeing the dietician this week - she is still threatening me with the feeding tube. i have bloods tuesday to see how bad my vitamin/mineral intake has become.....then consultant on the 7th to make a decision re the feeding tube etc. nightmare!
so ideas please to stop the boredom...........i can eat:
white bread, noodles, mashed potato (no skin), banana, soup, milk, egg, cheese, yogurt. thats it.....all beige food - which is never good is it! crisps & chocolate i manage but my tum protests and yet i keep on ramming them in
welcome yellowbird & ibelongtoguy - and good luck on your journeys
mm - how cold is cold with you? we are threatened with snow and it is freezing :rotfl:
ruby - well done on your loss - keep at it. imagine what you could loose on plan :T
good eating everyone, saidanProud mum :T

Morning all
Med Mum - I am the same, for some reason, I feel as if I have gained this week, and I can hand on heart say, I have stuck to plan 100% but TOTM for me so. Going to run about doing my flylady HHC's today to try and burn some calories off
Plan for today
B - 2 Weetabix (HEB) Skimmed milk (HEA), Banana
L - Big Salad with egg, lettuce, cucumber, peppers, beetroot SW coleslaw
D - Potatoes, HM steak pie (without the pastry so just stew:rotfl:), roast (frylight) veg, whatever is in fridge SW ice cream (2 syns its the one with maltesers crushed in) summer berries.
Out of interest, does anyone know how many syns are in puff pastry?
Hope you all have a good weigh in tomorrow, am off for brekkie now and to get kids ready for Sunday School:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Apart from the white bread Saidan, most of the stuff is allowed - and you know that whatever colour it is you shouldn't be having crisps and chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back from shopping with the fridge and freezer well stocked. Didn't make it to Wholefoods as my stomach is protesting big time today - just made it home in time (sorry TMI!!!!!)
So here's my plan for today -
Sunday 29 January 2012
B-2 slices w/m toast, 2 hard-boiled eggs, banana
S-persimmon
L-noodles, stir-fried veg
D-Chickpea & Veg Soup; Mexican Bake
S-cut up veggies, homemade humous
Not sure that the stir-fry is the best thing but I really fancy it so going to try and see.
Saidan, it's not that it's freezing here (it's not!) but the houses are so damn cold. We don't have central heating or brick walls or carpets! The marble floors are like ice (even with slippers on) and walls keep all the cold in during the winter and the heat in during the summer. The air conditioning is great in the summer but the heat is not good in the winter as it's not like central heating so I don't use it. It's actually warmer outside than in so now having been shopping I've warmed up!Mediterranean Mum

jennyjelly wrote: »I love this thread! Getting some fab ideas for menus and you are all so supportive. I wonder how much weight has been lost in total by everyone on here? Probably enough to make several extra people.
Right, can I ask a really daft question please? I'm doing EE and finding it great, feeling healthier than I have in years, it's true you are what you eat! I've been given a load of pre-EE books and mags and there are some fab recipes but syns are only given for red & green. Is there any way of working out EE syns from this?
BTW I'm not over-impressed with the big syns book, really badly organised so I'm finding it hard to find what I'm looking for. Ah well, live and learn.
Yes the food directory is confusing and does take some getting used to. When I first joined SW, I used to write the syn values on the food (particularly cupboard stuff) so I didn't have to look something up everytime I wanted to use it. I do also keep a notebook of my favourite syns so I don't have to keep checking online/referring to the directory.hi all
so i am not hungry - but want to eat.
i have just used my heb's for the day giving in to my toast craving, used my syns on choccie - and now made a huge cup of tea.
SW say to eat when hungry until you are full - and use superfree.
so this is the truth about why i am fat - i would normally now sit in bed with laptop and a big choccie bar, or bag of crisps, or toast ETC
my diet is sooooooo boring due to my health problems
soup, mash, pasta noodles, white bread. chocolate/crisps.
i had chips last night when we went out and my tum has been sore all day - so no more naughties for me - just not worth it.
i am so frustrated! am desperate not to reach to the kitchen cupboards.
anyone else have this want to eat problem?
saidan
I waste my syns (and have them too early in the day). Then I get cross and frustrated and tend to eat more syns to console myself. Then I make the most of indulging and have even more! (even if I don't want that 11.5 syn toffee crisp) because I'm getting back on track the next day so want to make the most of eating rubbish before its back 110% on plan (except i don't - I repeat!) Someone said to me (and it might have been someone on here (thanks:D) if things have gone awry, start with the next meal :jfairy_cakes wrote: »I completely understand where you are coming from, this seems to be a re-occuring problem for most of us!I'm on my first day of a new week and already I've blipped!!!!
Hope you can get back on plan and draw a line under what has already passed.
Big hugs ((((((hugs))))) and some magic dust (sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle), just in case it helps

Thank you :beer:0 -
Morning everyone!
So nice/frustrating to see that so many of us are on the same wavelength! But then I suppose that's why we're here isn't it?
Today started with bad intentions - was lying in bed planning on getting up and eating some dairy milk :rotfl: but I'm pleased to say I didn't, I had a fruit salad with total 0% instead.
Yesterday was very good, had fruit salad and total 0%, thai-ish chicken noodle soup for lunch, then sw burger and chips with salad for dinner. For syns I had a rice krispies square and a penguin  I try and have my syns as late as possible, because I know that if I had them early, I'd just want more and more.
For lunch today it'll be bacon omelette and salad, and probably sw roast for dinner. No exercise dvd today, but planning a big long walk with the husband.
Keep going everyone :T:T"Empires are not brought down by outside forces, they are destroyed by weaknesses from within."0 -

ibelongtoguy wrote: »Anyway, we have a question about Muller Lights. Hubby likes the Actimel yog drins which work out at 1.5 syns. He looked at ingredients and said that Muller Lights were worse so why are they free? We put a Muller Light (toffee) through the syn calculator and it came out at 4.5 syns...can anyone explain?
He thinks it's just a marketing ploy - SW are sponsored by Muller in some way? I was planning to ask at group, but the more experienced of you might have come across this before.
Good luck to you all and your fantastic losses so far!
i think its to do with the fact that those drinks are a little bit puny and won't stave off hunger in any way shape or form but a muller light is enough to make you feel like you've had something and can go some way to keep you full.
its the same principle with fruit juice, one glass of orange juice might just be orange but it won't keep you full at all so its a syn whereas eating a whole orange will stave off hunger.
thats how SW works, if it is low(ish) in calories but fills you up so you aren't hungry then its free but things that may not have many calories in but you'd need to eat 5 of to stave off a hunger bout are syned because they won't do anything for your weight loss.Out of interest, does anyone know how many syns are in puff pastry?
raw puff pastry: 4.5 for 25g or 4 per 25g for light on all plans.
i looked this up the other week after making a fish pie covered in a jus-rol sheet. i nearly cried when i twigged i realised i had the choice of a teeny square or blowout lol.0
