  • Yes I think you're right. Last year I walked every day for about 8 months then it got way too humid and I gave up - it's so hard getting back into it.

thats so true, once you start, u become addicted to it....tho once you stop,....its so very hard getting back into it again,

thats why i do somethign every day, i dont want to break the habit, i dont want to b ever in the situation where i have 6 stone to loose again,

i dont mind keeping it off....but i dont want to have to battle to loose it all over again,
  • Morning all. Feeling good for my first week properly back on plan over Christmas! Have resolved to make more new food this year, try new recipes instead of sticking to same old same old. Weigh in tonight, definitely feel as though ive lost a little this week. Quietly hoping to lose the three I put on :)

Had porridge, skim milk and a banana for breakfast, going to make sw falafel for lunch. Then will do a fitness ball workout. Have a good one everyone!

  • OK Piglet I hear ya! I've just been on the "dreadmill" for 15 minutes at a pace of 5km/hr - OMG how out of condition am I!!! I was out of breath and my heart was racing.

OK so not much but a start - I'm going to try and do another 15 minutes later on and see if I can slowly build it up that way. I think the up-side of walking on the "dreadmill" is that you keep to the same pace rather than outside where you slow down or speed up depending on the roads.

Sorry to be such a whinge everyone - I'll try not to bore you all with my negativity!

  • Well done for getting going Med Mum :) I cancelled my gym sub this month, I just haven't made enough use of it and I know that I won't! I actually don't mind the treadmill, but finding time to go was always really awkward, and very easy to avoid. But I AM determined to exercise this year. First goal is to feel comfortable enough to wear a swimming costume so that I can go swimming. My husband is really keen on that idea too. Am really trying to have a new start this year.

then had no dinner to punish myself

I was always told never to do this because it ends up worse off. you're better off having a meal based on lots of free food than not eating because you'll just end up ravenous later on and make everything worse than it already was.

i HATE the threadmill!! i would walk for hours, but within 5mins on the threadmill....i want to get off:mad: i HATE IT!!!:D

the "dreadmill"! i love that! i get bored within 2 mins on them. the only way i can get through it is by doing running intervals for 30 secs at mental speed followed by a period of recovery walking (and coughing and spluttering and expletives :rotfl:)

that's it exactly - the fact that I did 15 mins this morning is amazing! glad I did actually rather than attempting to go out - it's chucking it down here!

  • Hi all, newbie here! I think I have posted once before on here but can't find it. I started following SW using the magazines just after Christmas. I'm having trouble sticking to the meal plans, but I'm doing my best, lost 1lb the 1st week and weighing again tomorrow. It's also TOTM and I'm struggling with cravings! Anyway I'm finding it's a lot of meat which is getting a bit expensive. I understand that it's a high protein diet so I will have to focus on eggs, beans etc more as they are cheaper. Are there any syns in beans/pulses?

I have around 7 stone to lose (at a guess, I am too scared to look at any chart at the mo!) but am focussing for the time being on my brother's wedding in Sydney at the end of April. If I really went for it could I lose 3 stone by then?

    Today's menu:
B: Porridge with sk milk and 1 tsp jam
    L: Beans, poached egg, tomatoes
D: Glazed ginger pork steaks with root veg mash (SW mag jan/feb p33)
    S: Pear
:D Skint but happy with my lovely family :D

    .
i make an asian roll called goi cuon and that just needs a kettle a fridge and copious amounts of work space. i don't add meat to mine and just use veggies. the rice noodles for the filling will cook in boiling water from a kettle as they don't need that long in hot water. theres lots of different recipes online for them. (also free on SW G or EE)

LOVE those fresh spring rolls evil squid. How do you count the wrappers? Can we have them as an HEB?

Hi there PH and well done on trying to do this on your own - it needs a lot of dedication. It's definitely not a high protein diet. There are some good explanations a few pages back but basically you choose from either red (protein), green (pulses) or extra easy (both) days and then you have some extras that you're allowed.

I would suggest that if you can go along to a group (even just once) to get the books and the explanation, it will all make sense to you. It took me a long time reading it all by myself to really understand how it works.

    good luck
