  • so proud of you - I started just a bit heavier but I'm 5ft7 LOL

I know I had this super loss the first week but then nothing - nada - and I'm so upset about it. I have good days and bad days but I'm glad to say that my bad days are way fewer than my good days and when I'm bad I get straight back on the wagon the next meal, not even the next morning.

I really feel that if I had a class to go to I would be able to keep my head in the right space so much easier but I can dream! I'm going to be in the UK in the middle of February and plan on going to a group (I'll be there for two meetings) and then I'll be able to get all the material and hopefully that will help me. I joined online but found it to be totally useless as there's no support system at all.

I think you've given yourself a very sensible target. I look at the charts and say no way will I ever get down to 10st and my DH says just concentrate and losing 10lb at a time and don't think about the bigger picture. I will be 50 in two years and I really really don't want to be this big at 50 - I've thrown away my 40s and I'm determined not to go into my 50s in the same way.

Fantastic loss Piglet - well done with the exercise (something i've not got round to yet :o)

MM - you may not have lost as much as you hope but at least you've gained a more sensible approach to food by the sound of it. Getting back on the wagon when you've fell off is hard.. i regularly let a bit of chocolate jump in my mouth, then think s0d it and eat the whole bar (plus what ever else i can find!)

well first weigh in today for me :j:j 6lbs :j:j i'm glad i had a big loss, as getting a small loss the first week always demotivates me. Now to keep on the straight and narrow and lose some more..

    B - apple, yogurt and weetabix (2)
L - cous cous and a bit of pork (contains peppers)
T - chicken and potatoes, veg & salad
    S - 2 x ryvita crunch (HEb) crisps (7) satsumas

Trying another EE day today(as eating leftovers), however, i don't feel i've had enough superfree through the day so i'll be making up for it with veg for dinner..

    have a good day x

  • Well done Saidan and Shala_moo - nice losses.

:hello: RL is a bit manic at the moment but I have just about caught up!!

mm (and anyone else feeling disheartened) I also lost years feeling miserable about my weight. I can't believe how much losing weight has transformed how I feel about myself. I used to get get depressed at the idea that one meal out could undo a week's good work (not strictly true but it felt like it at the time). I can't stress enough how well worth it sticking to SW can be!!! If you have a bad day then just get back on ASAP!!!

As I was 1lb under my target range at WI last Thursday I've been very flexi this week. This was useful at the weekend when I was away but I'm back more or less on plan now. I started to feel uneasy at losing weight without trying so we'll see what this week brings. I still don't think I've got the idea of how to maintain yet.

i just take it "sticker at a time"....half stone, stone, on up thru them, club ten, etc

    i will be 40 in 2 years ;) and i felt the same...i didnt wanna b fat and 40 :o

some of the weight charts are very

i have been around 11 stone before and looked just fine...so theres no way i have anywhere near 10 stone as a goal (i was 9.5 in my early 20s, but i had to work soooooo hard to maintain that)

i do think 11.5 / 11.12 will b easier to maintain, so thats my goal now

i go to class every monday, and i really do think it helps...the support, and it keeps you on the straight and narrow for over the weekends too.:D
  • Hi everyone - newbie here! there are no classes anywhere near us so I have joined on-line yesterday - paying all that money up front really focus's you! I did SW years ago and lost around 4 1/2stone but couldnt maintain it. This time I really like the idea of the Easy plan as when I was on green I always craved meat and on red, potatoes. Where I went wrong the last time (although the plan worked and I lost) is that I ate different things to the family. This time round I am making the usual family meals but putting the SW slant on them.
What has spurred me on this time is my son proposed to his girlfriend on Christmas Day and they are going to have a huge wedding and theres no way I am going to face my ex-husbands family this size!!! So I have until September 2013 to get some of this weight off (and theres a huge amount of it!) I weighed myself in kilos as I dont understand them (if I did it in stones I would be totally disheartened and dive into a box of Quality Street and never be seen again!)

So todays meals are (I use Healthy choices for breakfast cereal and skimmed milk)

    B - Dorset porrige (HB)
L - 1/2 Batchelors savoury rice, lean roast beef
T - SW fish, chips and mushy peas - 2.5 syns
    S - Banana & muller lite yog
Ferrero Rocher chocolate! - 2.5 syns

I made the Batchelors rice up in my food flask to see if it stayed hot until lunch time and it did - when I am at work I will be eating the whole packet but today I am off so had 1/2 for lunch and will keep the other 1/2 for a snack later on. I have loads of salads and fruit to munch on.
I am trying to walk every day - hurt my back a couple of months ago and havnt got back into walking at all. Did 15 minutes yesterday and just off out to do 15 mins today (my physio said to take it really easy at first)

Since I cant get to a class it was great to find this bit of the forum!

  • Hi there, sorry if this is the wrong place to post but couldnt find where else to put it!

I need help and suggestions for my daughter, returning to Uni after her christmas break. She has put an awful lot of weight on over the last couple of years, gradually but definately. We both thought that going off to uni, and having to fend for herself, would result in dramatic weight loss................h,mmmm,.Unfortunately this didnt happen, the life of a uni student seems to be one long alcohol fuelled party! DD has admitted to drinking copious pints of snakebite, resulting in some quite outstanding weight gain!!:(

Anyway, as we all know the only person who can decide to loose weight it yourself, and she has now asked for help, except we have a problem we cant seem to solve.,

Uni digs consist of a single bedded room, and a shared "kitchenette". That is to say, she has access to a MICROWAVE, and a FRIDGE. Thats it! Nothing else :( No cooker, no hob. She is desperately unhappy with her weight and really wants to address this now, I must admit I do worry about it. But having to live on tinned food or jacket potatoes somewhat limits us with regards to choice. Obviously she cannot cook from scratch, so can you please help with ideas to help her choose the right foods to start to be happy again? She hates baked beans, sweetcorn, peas and is allergic to all fish products. So bang goes jacket potatoes and beans, or tuna :(.

Obviously money is a REAL issue, in that she doesnt have any. :rotfl:She is living on such a tight budget that buying a fresh microwave meal each night is out of the question.

    Thanks in anticipation!!!!:T:T
:happyhear Not everyones cup of tea, but just right for me!! :coffee:
  • Hi HomeMum - does she have any space in her room to have a mini-fridge? If this can be done then she can at least keep all kinds of fruit and vegetables without risk of anyone "borrowing" them! I remember this issue well. On top of that she could have a small kettle to boil water to make up some mug shots (I think that's what you call them). Does she eat eggs? If so she can make scrambled eggs in the microwave and have that with jacket potato and a salad. I know when I used to live in digs I survived on boil-in-the-bag fish in sauce - I know she can't have that but maybe there is something else similar that can be done in the microwave. I don't know exactly what there is in the UK supermarkets these days but I know that last time I was there I was totally amazed by how much you could get to make life easier - there are bags of ready cut veg or frozen veg that just needs to be done in the micro. What about some other kind of tinned veg?

Other than that all I can think of is sandwiches but then that could be calorific depending on what she's going to put in the sandwich but if she likes humous and vegetables you can make a very healthy meal - and if she were to make it an open sandwich she cuts down on the amount of bread.

Soup in a cup - lots of low calorie versions of those on the shelves and she just needs to add boiling water.

Good luck - it's hard with fussy eaters and food allergies.
