Well stepped on my scales this morning and although I've had an awful week (and only 6 days this week as I want to weigh on a Saturday) I have lost 1.5lb! :j

Spurring me on into this week....ONLY 4.5 to go for my 2 stone!!

I joined a group today! So am hoping to get a good kick start to the new year. I need to get my head round some of the "rules" but could I ask you experts is the 5-15 syns per day personal choice as to how many you have or should I set a number and stick to that each day? Is five the minimum?

Morning, diet goig well though not looking forward to a bunfught in IKEA this morning.... gah. Why did we decide to do this???

My DH, who has been steadily bloating up over the past year, has finally knuckled down and in true man-on-a-diet style has lost half a stone in five days. Pretty good going! And of course really annoying because even though he has far more weight than me to lose he will undoubtedly speed past me at a rate of knots to goal! Still, it was really good to see him looking pleased and motivated this morning when he weighed. As for me, I've lost 4.5lb in five days, which is well on the way to reversing my horrendous overall December gain of 10lb...

I did SW with OH a few years ago and every weigh in he lost double the amount as me! Our consultant said men have more muscle or something so find weight falls off once they get going. Got to say though he's managed to keep most of his off where i've put mine all back on, thry just have better focus sometimes!! :D

Dizzyk also converted me to Aromat, i use it on potato wedges in my actifry, they're just scrummy!!

B - bacon, 2 slices wholemeal bread (heb)
    L - fairy cake :(
T - chicken thighs, jacket potato and Butternut squash, salad
    S - fruit if i need any

Shouldnt have had the fairy cake i know but i had visitors and i made them for them. Not sure how many syns but i'm under for the week so not going to worry too much.

Well done to all the losers

    Have a great weekend x

    Welcome :j

When I joined SW - I was given a syn allowance of 15. My syns usually got spent on wine (6), treat size buttons (4) and spread / sauces etc using the remaining 5.

Now we are advised to stick to 5 - 10 syns :( I think the reasoning for this is that if we stick to no more than 10 but have miscounted somewhere, you have a buffer of 5 syns.

I think syns are important, they are there to be used and enjoyed.

    great explanation flat eric :)

i would just add that some people count 105 over the whole week. useful if you know you want to go out one day as it will balance the excess out over the week rather than using flexible syns.

i found that if i allowed myself flexible syns i set out with good intentions of "i'll stick to 50 and no more tonight!" but when someone offers you sauces with steak and butter and bread and desserts and alcohol i fell to "ahhh its flexible syns! go on then!" and went mad every time.

try the different ways and find what works for you.

Yes I agree. I started keeping a syn notebook. Sometimes my syns might be around 20 which is a lot so I would simply deduct the syns spent off my weekly allowance rather than give up for the day/week and eat many more syns!
