Hi, hope you don't mind me joining :)

I want to lose about a stone as slowly over the year my weight has been creeping up. I have looked into going to meetings but all my local ones start at 7pm (i work until 7.30pm) and there isn't one on my day off.

Thought about joining online but slimming world won't let me because my BMI is within normal range as a healthy weight.
Iv never joined before so althouth i know the basics of how it works after reading most of this thread i am still a bit unsure about red, green and extra easy. Watching books and starter pack on ebay but they are going for crazy prices!

Anywhere else i can get a starter pack from? I also want a food directory and syns book.

Are you not allowed to join online if your BMI is normal?! That rules that option out for me then!

Best thing to do is to go to a group & pick up the books

Is it worth you taking a day off?

Or you could get someone else to join & get books for you - they don't need to go again!

You can join SW in group if you have more than 7lbs to loose - not sure why you can't on website!

Evening all, just had a laugh [for a change], Am making the classic cheese and onion pie from this months mag and noticed it reads 'fuss-free winter ONE-pots. Then read the recipe method:
Boil spuds, simmer for 20/25 mins [1 pan], meanwhile boil carrots [2 pans], spray frying pan [ 3pans], spray pie dish [4 pans] read this all out to son/hubby and said it says One pot and theres 4. Son says " they're all pans so they can get away with it' Hubby said "yeah but none are a pot so????"
Damn sounded so funny at the time, think you had to be here cos that reads rubbish :rotfl:

Anyway back to recipe, it says 4syn a portion. Can anyone with the mag see where the syns are?
110g reduced fat cheese [I have pilgrims choice light] HEa?
Fat free cottage cheese with chives [ I have tesco light choice low fat cottage cheese onion/chive] is this high syns?

Would appreciate someone checking this out for me please :A
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

No syns in the cottage cheese

110g reduced fat cheddar is 15.4syns accordding to syns online - so split into 4 = 3.85syns per serving!

Or you could put in 180g reduced fat cheddar & make it 1hea per serving! (or 6.3 syns per serving!)

Can you tell i deal with numbers for my job??? :rotfl:

I will have to be careful I do not go mad tomorrow as today I have a rather bad sinus headache and the thought of food is not appealing to say the least so just drinking plenty of water and about to have my third cup of tea, still taking my one sugar, but today don't feel so bad about it. Did go out shopping and bought in plenty of fruit - small amounts of lots of different types so can pick on them and none should go off. I usually just get a few bits of fruit as hubby will on eat bananas and I feel I am wasting money buying it just for me but not any more. He can stuff himself with his cakes and biscuits and when I feel like eating I will have my fruit - usually as cakes and biscuits only things in to nash I have them, but not really got a sweet tooth, but always begrudge buying what I like.

I had taken a chicken breast out of the freezer yesterday to make into chicken kiev last night but headache kicked in, so just had some salad. No way I could eat it tonight but does anyone know if I make it tonight would it keep till tomorrow in fridge or even better could I freeze it. I plan to make is using Quark cheese.

Bought my new treadmill today - other one fell to bits months ago and I missed it but again kept thinking on for me waste of money - but unlikely to even unpack it tonight never mind get on it. Right better go being on here making head worse.

    Thanks
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Well, its been exactly a week since I started back on the straight and narrow and the scales thos morning said....... 4lbs lost !!!:j:j:j:j Hurrah!
I must admit that I have celebrated with a school dinners pudding (small portion of apple crumble and custard) (I'm a teacher) but am now back on the wagon.

    Today's food has been...
Breakfast - banana, 1 slice wholemeal bread, cheese (A and B choice)
Lunch - pasta and sauce, crumble and custard:o (syntastic!)
Tea -something free - not sure what yet, maybe a jacket spud and beans
Snacks - will only be fruit to make up for the naughty pudding

Not sure how many syns that I've had so no more for the day or it'll be a lb back on!

I have found one 10 miles away on my day off so might be worth a drive to that one. Do you just turn up on the night as a new member?

A bit worried about going alone but i agree prob best way to get the books.
  • Well done WW - that's a result!

After my dreadful day yesterday I've been a good girl today -

B-2 egg frittata with red peppers and tomatoes and 30g grated cheese + cut up tomato, cucumber and red peppers (HEA)
    S-banana
    L-braised cabbage
S-2 slices w/m bread, 1 tblspn humous, tomato slices; persimmon - 2½ syns
    D-lentil soup , Sunshine Pasta Bake (Nov/Dec11 pg 26) – 6 syns

Just waiting for the Sunshine Pasta Bake to finish cooking but had the soup so can wait a while. Now sitting here busy planning for the weekend and next week - shopping tomorrow morning.
