Welcome coffeequeen, I'm in a similar situation. Sadly there are lots of people who say the weight can just creep back on and I really don't want it to happen to me.
piglet, I seem to notice 15 syns written down less and less these days but I still use it (or 105 a week) as my yardstick. The way I look at it is that if you can lose weight and have maximum syns then that's great. If your weightloss slows up (and it seems to when you've not got huge amounts to lose) then would be the time to cut down on syns.
tankgirl, well done for getting back on the wagon (or on the tank as we say on here!). I find it helps if I post my meal plan for the day in advance. It does seem to deter me from grazing or making bad choices if I know what I should be eating.
Good luck with your exam nessie.
Inexplicably I lost 1lb at WI this morning. I know I had festive goodies but I must have balanced it out in the last week. I am now 1lb below target range and have the dilemma of do I set my target again (3lbs so half a stone bracket) or feed my face for a week!:rotfl:We have a big weekend coming up with a party, stay in hotel and out for Sunday lunch. I think I'll stay on plan, have a flexi weekend and see how I'm doing next Thursday.0 -
Hope you can clear something up for me?
I was on the understanding that if a food was free on both green and red then it would be free on extra easy?
But looking at a book of branded foods, things such as extra lean mince is free on red but not green?
Or are you allowed lean meat with out skin and cooked without fat?
Was going to have beans on toast for lunch, but think I have to syn baked beans on extra easy?
Thanks in advance
I have read the 1. St page of the thread
I think it may be superfree you're thinking of that's free on all plans (fruit and veg).
If you think of Red as a 'meat' plan then if you have carbs/pulses etc you have to syn those but eat as much meat as you like. Conversley if you think of Green as a 'Veggie type' plan then you can have as many pulses etc as you like but need to measure and syn any meat. That's a very basic definition as it ignores the HEXs.
On EE you can have as much as you like of meat, pulses, or anything else on the free lists (Green & Red) but you must have a third superfree a day. So enjoy your beans on toast but make sure you have some fruit later or loads of veg with dinner.

Well, I put on 3lbs at my weigh in. And I'm more than happy with that! Could have been worse
So back on it now, looking forward to a lighter and lighter year!

You just want to confuse me more don't you EvilsquidI think you mean G (pasta, grains, beans) or R (meat)????????

it'll prob make more sense when you get your books. the "extra" HEB on both plans are basically the free food unique to the other day (and now EE)
so with green being mostly veggies, pasta, grains, your "extra" HEB was a measured potion of meat (or additional cheese for the veggies out there).
with red being mostly meat and veggies, your "extra" HEB was your pasta and grains.
with EE as the "extra" stuff is now in the free food list, you don't need 2 HEB anymore, you still eat the same food you did before but if you want meat on a "green" day, you now have it unmeasured on EE.
when EE first came in i ended up spending ages trying to explain to my original group that they weren't being shortchanged a HEB, loads of them just couldn't get their heads round "loosing" the HE even though they actually weren't loosing it at all and were better off.0 -
hello everyone.
I finally got caught up. It nice to see so many people joining the thread and in similar position to myself.
Firstly, thanks so much for the great advise FlatEric. Having done Slimming world for 2 years I thought I had heard all the tricks. Really liked the idea of filling a rucksack with tins to represent weigh loss.
I am slowly getting back on track after Christmas blip. My turning point was when the scales said 11st 2. I was a target member at 10st so i knew i had to do something. This morning the scales said 10st 10. So very pleased!!!
Blue Monkey I know how you feel about your daughter. The reason I joined was because of my daughter. my own eating habits were awful and I wanted to set a good example to her. This is the main reason I choose Slimming world.
I don't believe that children should be taught the idea of 'good' and 'bad' food. Some times if you get an urge for chocolate you are better to have one small piece because if you don't allow yourself to have it then you go and have two or three bars later.
I think that you need to allow your daughter some choice. Maybe let her only have one treat a day but as much fruit as see wants. I have a great local fruit and veg supermarket here and I always try a new fruit or veg each week. Maybe you can get your daughter involved in the shopping and cooking process so that she make some decisions herself. There are some great slimming world cake and pudding recipes out there that you and her could try to bake. I know in taster session some of the ladies in my group made fairy cakes, carrot cakes, chocolate weetabix cake, jellied sweets.
I know that I use food as a treat with my daughter and it is a habit I am trying very hard to break. So instead of a trip to McD I have started taking her to the swimming pool as a treat.0 -
Oooooooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay I think I understand. I apologise cos I think I misread the previous comment but then I told you my little brain couldn't cope with it!
Can't wait to get to the UK in February and join to get my books!Mediterranean Mum

As i am usually a green girl - i would forgo the meat for an extra slice of bread or hifi bar - which is where i can see why people think that they are missing out on the HE - not everyone on a red day would use a HE on pots/grains etc. and not everyone on a green day would use a HE on meat - so to them they were missing out on that extra cereal bar or dried fruit etc.
I can see what you are saying RE not losing out on a HE but i will still say i am!
Saying that i am trying to give EE a go for a change - mainly cos i have lots of whoopsied eat in the freezer! When that has gone i reckon i will go back to green days!
Why is meat so expensive?
I saw the price for a tin of tuna the other day and nearly had a heart attack! :rotfl:0 -

i know! I'm on green mostly because its cheap. id rather forgo cheap meat and save up to have a really nice cut of something i'd actually enjoy and savour.0 -
Realised I'd forgotten to post my EE menu:
B: NAS squash, HEB Puffed Wheat, HEA milk plus teas
L: LO chicken casserole (minus chicken;))liver and onions, mash (maybe swede in it), onions, carrots, peas
Syns: gravy and maybe a little treat later
I've always done EE so never really got my head around the others. I think the attraction is that you can have extra bread and cheese so if you're not fussed about meat that's a bonus. Some people just like to mix them up because they think variety boosts weightloss.0
