I am sure that this has been asked before but can some kind soul give me an overview of how to start doing a SW plan. I am going to try to join a local group next week but wanted to get all my shopping, ingredients in online this weekend. How should I start? What foods are syns? Is it low carb essentially?

    Fantastic post from evilsquid!

Not sure if this helps but there is a free 7 day plan on the slimming world site.

    Hope it helps!

I am hoping today I can finally have a day where my SW journey for 2012 begins and doesn't get written off because I have had too many syns. Yesterday I had 48 syns in chocolate

I am not sure what day I am following today - suspect Extra Easy?

Breakfast is a hi fi bar (HEB) I shall try to pick up a portion of ready prepared fruit to have in a bit
Lunch is sausage casesrole which has mushrooms and other veg with it but to increase the superfree I may buy a bag of (stick in the microwave and steam) veg.

Tea - undecided - possibly SW chips with roasted peppers, eggs and ham.

    Snacks/syns - not sure.

I am counting down to the weekend when I realise I need to give serious thought to my meal plans and get organised.

I'm wearing a skirt to work that is my emergency I feel fat skirt and its getting tight....

I don't have anything else to wear....

    It went pear shaped....
    new day tomorrow...

Update on cheese & onion pie - bland apart from the cheese topping - very dry, needs some sort of sauce so will make a tomato based one tomorrow. I would make it again but need to pep it up with more flavours, could turn out to be comfort food :D

Evilsquid, gave an excellent description. Meant to ask, have you been a consultant?

poet, if you're getting shopping in buy a small (400g) loaf of wholemeal bread and a can of frylight (I use the Olive Oil one). Pleanty of eggs if you like them. It's worth reading post 1 of this thread too.

I've been thinking of dizzy too. I thought they're probably doing lots of visiting and/or appointments. Sad time for all. Sending caring vibes.:A

As I'm now 1 lb out of target range I've been having little 'synful' snacks all day. Only tiny ones as I find SW firmly ingrained.

nope, considered it but got massively put off by rumours of having to fork out thousands of pounds up front for it all and taking out a loan with SW that was a silly interest rate.

one of my mums friends was a consultant, it was her group that i originally joined. she took over cz the one before left and no1 could fill the spot so she joined just so the people going had a group. she said its a massive outlay upfront.

Evening all, just had a laugh [for a change], Am making the classic cheese and onion pie from this months mag and noticed it reads 'fuss-free winter ONE-pots. Then read the recipe method:
Boil spuds, simmer for 20/25 mins [1 pan], meanwhile boil carrots [2 pans], spray frying pan [ 3pans], spray pie dish [4 pans] read this all out to son/hubby and said it says One pot and theres 4. Son says " they're all pans so they can get away with it' Hubby said "yeah but none are a pot so????"
Damn sounded so funny at the time, think you had to be here cos that reads rubbish :rotfl:

Anyway back to recipe, it says 4syn a portion. Can anyone with the mag see where the syns are?
110g reduced fat cheese [I have pilgrims choice light] HEa?
Fat free cottage cheese with chives [ I have tesco light choice low fat cottage cheese onion/chive] is this high syns?

Would appreciate someone checking this out for me please :A

Did you like it?...I made this a couple of weeks ago, and let's just say, I won't be cooking it again

WI tonight and I put on 1lb, not bad after this weeks meal out and take away pizza for DS's birthday.

  • I also cooked from the magazine last night but the previous month's one - Sunshine Pasta Bake (Nov/Dec11 pg 26).

There were a huge amount of vegetables and I think next time I would stir fry them in the frylight first rather than putting them in the oven with frylight sprayed over them. The pasta mixed with the fromage frais was nice and I added a lot of herbs to that too. My son picked off most of the pasta and left the veggies! So today we have lots of veggies left (pasta all eaten!) and I'm going to turn it into a frittata for lunch.

So today's plan looks like this -

    Fri 6 January 2012
B-tuna and egg salad – tomato, red pepper, spring onions, cabbage, ½ avocado, 1 tblspn light mayo – 7 syns
    S-fruit
L-left over Sunshine Pasta Bake (courgettes, peppers, onions) made into frittata (HEA)
    S-fruit
D-lentil soup; chicken thigh, braised cabbage, green beans; beetroot salad; green salad – lettuce, cucumber, ¼ avocado, sp onion - 3½ syns
    Mediterranean Mum

hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j

I'm assuming everyone either knows about this or I've just missed the post about it but it's always good to have a reminder!

Starting tomorrow in The Mirror there are four Slimming World pamphlets being given away, probably a good buy for people like me who aren't joining. It also has a free membership voucher in it, and money off coupons in Tuesdays.

    Hope that helps someone.

Rachel, I posted further back re the c/o pie. I would cook it again but would tweak it as was bland & dry.

Velvet crunch crisps - am I right in thinking they are lowish in syns? Can someone check for me please :D
