Yes thats helpful - thank you :j I think I need to work on the basis of what I LIKE to eat, fathom that first, find recipes I want to try and then meal plan. At the moment, I'm kind of sat here scratching my head because its almost like I'm starting my SW journey afresh and although I know the plan inside out, I don't know where to start or how to approach it.
I'm coming up for my 48th birthday and I've been making a list of 50 things I want to do/achieve before I reach 50 - top of the list is to lose 50 kilos! It's a huge amount but by giving myself 2 years I'm hoping that I'm being realistic about it.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
OK I am getting organised....
Just been to the veg stall at the market across the road and stocked up on fruit and veg. I bought parsnips, tomatoes, a leek and pears. Going to make a soup with the parsnip this afternoon to take to work tomorrow. Also will make a quern mince lasagne for tomorrow nights dinner.
Todays food looks like this... green day
Breakfast - 2 x boiled eggs with 2 x slices of wholemeal toast (HEb) an apple, banana and 2 x quorn sausages (2 syns)
Lunch - Jacket potato cooked in microwave with baked beans and cheddar cheese (HEa) and a pear
Dinner - risotto made with rice, mushrooms, onions and spring onions all cooked in fry light
Snacks - fibre plus bar (HEb) yet more pears and apples
Syns - not decided yet, will probably be a quality street or two plus a sip of Baileys this evening.
How does all that sound?
I will also have 250ml of semi skimmed milk in tea and coffee throughout the day, and loads of water and sugar free cola. They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
It's always better to be late in this life, than early in the next0 -
Day 1 back on plan. Feeling like absolute rubbish this morning and can't even blame the red wine I was sorely tempted to enjoy last night.
Emergency I need to eat now breakfast has been 28g of Alpen no added sugar. I didn't know if was a HEB but ate anyway! and on checking (after eating!) it would appear not! so 5 odd syns for that but don't mind. Its syns on chocolate I don't want to waste. Breakfast for me is usually a hi fi bar but they have discontinued my favourite (cranberry) so now all my stocks are used up, I'm at a bit of a loose end. To be honest, I don't like the hi fi light bars and the other hi fi flavours well they are a bit hit and miss,
I think lunch is going to be jacket potato, beans and salad and tea I suspect will be slimming world chips and eggs.
Was going to cook a chilli but can't be bothered to visit the supermarket and don't have the energy at the moment to faff in the kitchen.
Back to work tomorrow so need to write up a plan of sorts today otherwise I am going to struggle.
Suspect today will mostly be relaxing on the sofa with my kindle and the cat but will try to meal plan first.
Day 1 back on plan = gone pear shaped  !!
oh well, back to the meal planning.....0 -
Does anyone know the syn value of Kellogg's Special K Double Milk Chocolate bars (20g) (80 calories) ? I have bought some today but can only find the normal special k chocolate chips ones which are 4 syns on the SW website
I also managed to buy some Muesli which is not a HEB ! but I have found this on-line and 25g is 4.5 syns which is manageable.
Feeling the back to work blues now. Also feeling fed up at the journey ahead although once I have a couple of weeks on track and lose a few pounds, I'm sure it will get easier.0 -

Don't wait for tomorrow FE - believe me it happens to all of us - put it behind you and start from the next meal. As I said earlier, it took me a few tries to get back on track. I cant find them either but you could put the info into the syns calculator and it will work it out for you.
Otherwise I think 1 syn is roughly 20 cals so using this theory would make it 4 syns. HTH0 -
Can anyone suggest some lunch ideas, we have a microwave to use at work and a fridge to store stuff in. I normally take home made soups but wouldn't mind something more filling (I dont like jacket potato).
I follow green / red days0 -

Have a look in the latest mag TC - there are some great recipes and most of them could be made in or divided up into individual portions in microwaveable tubs.Mediterranean Mum

beans on toast plus cheese for HEA
cous cous (plain or ainsley harriet (some syns)) with roasted veg or salad items
cold pasta with lettuce leaves, feta cheese (HEA), cucumber, pepper, roasted cherry toms, other salad items and fat free vinagrette,
leftover chilli/curry/casserole (i have a food flask and heat at home)
cold bacon sandwich (yummy if you can get the blue cheese spread that laughing cow did) and serve also with some sweet chilli sauce (HEB for bread)
Batcherlors pasta and sauce (doesn't cook too well in microwave !) and went cold when I took it in food flask but was just about edible !!
a large salad, perhaps with HEA cheese, some ham (HEB), pickled onions perhaps some HEB bread on the side0 -
Made the Ham and Egg muffins for a change this morning (http://www.slimmingworld.com/recipes/ham-egg-muffins.aspx) but did them with lean bacon no fat. Hubby said he was excited to see the Bacon out and thought he was getting bacon butties only to be disappointed when I'd made "omlette cupcakes laced with bacon" and had to "settle for toast". Hilarious!
They were nice, got a few spare, so put them in the fridge, how long will they keep does anyone know? Thanks in advance.
Tonight's dinner is Steak, frylight mini roasties (HEB) and Mange tout all on a red day.
That'll do for today I think, I'm still living off last night's calories. No doubt I'll be starving again tomorrow in work!
I think planning is key, when I don't plan I can't follow the plan and its all too easy to reach for a sandwich or crisps.0
