This is the forum - http://www.slimmingworlders.com/ and you'll find it under challenges. It's been very quiet recently - guess everyone is enjoying the holiday season too much!

Hi, can I join in please? Am starting Slimming World tomorrow although am not going to the groups or paying for the online membership as I've borrowed a book from a friend and only really want to lose about a stone/stone and a half so I think I can do it just with careful eating. If not I'll rethink the membership!

The reason I'm starting tomorrow instead of today is that our local group is tomorrow so I've decided to go along with that! Also we still have a lot of our Christmas treats in the house and I want them gone before I do the final weighing and start the Green plan (am mainly veggie).

Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.

Just had two boiled eggs and 2 x small slices of wholemeal toast for breakfast, and enjoying a cuppa. Still feel a bit peckish so will have a banana and apple as well. Is that ok for an EE breakfast?

Definitely ok and you can even have a lot more than that if you want. I know that wouldn't fill me up :(

We only have apples and bananas in at the moment, and only Tesco low fat yoghurt (not sun free I suspect) so I don't fancy that. I don't really want to buy any more food until the end of this week. OH doesn't like me spending more than necessary.

I wouldn't dream of saying sod off! naff off maybe! ;0) *runs*

At the moment I have everything on a Word document with the names of recipes together with which SW mag their from and the page number. Then I make a list of the days in the week and put in a recipe for dinner each evening - trying to keep ingredients similar so that I'm using up what I've bought. Often the following morning's breakfast is made up of whatever is left over from the night before (if it's a veggie meal). For instance last night I made Mexican Bake and this morning I made a scramble with left over bake and a couple of eggs scrambled into it.

Lunches tend to be salad but will often include soup if I've made some the night before. We have soup most evenings and I basically throw in whatever veg (fresh and/or frozen) I have available. Right now I'm making soup for this evening - courgette, turnip, parsley root, leek and onion - depending on what vegetables I'm using I might also throw in some lentils and/or barley which I always have in the cupboard and really bulks up a soup. If I use lentils or barley that can often be enough for me in a meal.

I try and buy whichever fruit is in season - right now oranges and bananas are both cheap - and that's what I use for my snacks but I also keep my HEB for my afternoon snack because that's my worst time and I'm usually looking for something more than just a piece of fruit.

HTH but feel free to ask anything else.

Yes thats helpful - thank you :j I think I need to work on the basis of what I LIKE to eat, fathom that first, find recipes I want to try and then meal plan. At the moment, I'm kind of sat here scratching my head because its almost like I'm starting my SW journey afresh and although I know the plan inside out, I don't know where to start or how to approach it.

Planning my meals is a big thing for me - but I don't want to complicate things for myself so I'm thinking of keeping my A5 diary with me at all times and meal planning/keeping a food diary in that but also keeping my week per page diary in the kitchen (used mainly for appointments) and planning just evening meals in that.

Weigh in tomorrow and I'm dreading it!
