Good to hear people doing well. It's a difficult time of the year, so very well done on all your efforts. ( I love marzipan too;))
saidan, can I ask what simply cook lamb is like? Is it slices? and is it free? and how easy is it to cook compared with a joint? I love lamb and it might make a yummy midweek meal.
I've had a mixed day. Didn't go to WI as I was meeting a friend for a Christmas get together. Just coffee but I had two biscuits. Then we had chicken pie for supper (DH's favourite and I wanted to use up something from freezer) but I only ate some of the pastry. Otherwise an OK day. I think the next week is going to be very up and down but I plan to enjoy it. I know now that SW is sufficiently in my psyche that I'll get back on plan whenever I can/need to.
EE menu today:
B: NAS squash, fried egg, HEB toast, tomato, mushrooms, HEA milk for teas
L: ham & cucumber sandwichchicken pie, mash, onions, peas, carrots
Syns: pastry, biscuits, tsp light mayo in sandwich0 -
maman - tesco have a simply cook range - they have chicken, beef, lamb, some are free some are few syns. this is the lamb:
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=268216640
you micro it for 8 mins - it is enough for 2 people. not sliced just the shank. it has lots of sauce so i just put mixed veg in the bottom of the bowl and pour on top. it is like a lamb caserole
this one is yummy and free - oven for 30mins
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=268236875
this one is yummy - 1 syn. oven 30 mins

i bought the spatchcock chicken in the same range - checked and it was 25 syns  so do look up the one you want before you buy. the whole range looks really nice.
OK - so i am falling off the wagon  gone over my syns the last 3-4 days, and even knowing that i should save them for xmas isnt helping. tonight we're off to pizza hut with friends - will have the 500cal pizza but it is still 25 syns  perhaps i should have pasta  i also decided after yesterdays marzipan that i should eat a slice of xmas cake so it is falling apart.
i'm trying - but i'm making bad choices cos i love food and i have got too much stuff in to be 'good'
anyone else struggling?

Saidan, I know exactly what you're talking about - this happened to me about 4 months ago. I'd done really well and lost about 10kg and had my son's wedding to look forward to, hoping to lose so much more. Then about 2 weeks before the wedding I just started eating and everything fell apart. I know it was probably the stress but I was so upset with myself.
A lot of this is about choices. If you and your friends are going to Pizza Hut that's a choice that you have made or agreed with - personally I couldn't go near it because I know I wouldn't be able to sit there and have an all-you-can-eat salad while everyone else was digging into pizza. If they are your friends then surely they will accept that Pizza Hut is somewhere you can't "safely" go. Of course that's if you want to get back on the wagon right now - again that's a choice you have to make
Believe me, I'm not judging cos I've been there myself so many times.
good luck and hope you manage to talk yourself round very soonMediterranean Mum

Thanks for the info saidan. I can see a trip to Tesco coming on soon. Lamb shanks are difficult to come buy fresh at a reasonablesize and price, so that would make quite an economical meal. I think we all prefer the virtuous feeling of cooking from scratch but we all need short cuts sometimes. I wonder how the chicken with cheese can be free?
I think eating out is one of the more difficult aspects of SW highlighted at this time of the year. Sometimes you just have to go to 'unsuitable' restaurants as part of a group and you don't always want to 'tell the world' you're trying to lose weight. I've approached it in two ways: Last year when I was fairly new to SW, I was very strict with myself and had things like steaks with jackets whenever possible. It did rather take the edge off eating out. These days I'm more likely to go 'flexi' and decide I'm going to have whatever I fancy (cheeseboard is my favourite indulgence) and then try really hard to eat syn free at home to make up for it. Someone posted the other day the proportion/percentage of meals they'd had which weren't SW friendly. I think that's a good way of looking at it as we tend to beat ourselves up for one meal, forgetting all the 'good' breakfasts/snacks/lunches.
Last year, I found the actual holiday period (at home) much easier than the party season beforehand. I had a fantastic dinner with only gravy synned. I passed on stuffing and sausages (had bacon rolls instead) but really filled up on everything else. I was going to have a tiny bit of pudding with yogurt but everyone was too full. I had fried potatoes, salad and pickles with cold cuts instead of making sandwiches. I didn't feel deprived at all and lost 5.5lbs at the next WI. Unfortunately I wasn't slimmer of the week as I'd put on the week before due to nibbly parties!
I'm hanging on in there, having a few treats but largely on EE plan:
B: NAS squash, baked beans, HEB toast, HEA milk for teas
L: ham, mash, asparagus, mushrooms, spring onion (concoction of leftovers/scraps from fridge all fried up like a big rissole)baked haddock, SW chips, cauli cheese
Syns: cheese sauce, weekend wine:j0 -
Hello ladies - long time no see! Hope you don't mind me popping back in?
I've completely fallen off the wagon after getting to target, mainly due to separating from my husband, getting divorced (decree nisi arrived yesterday) and doing a fair bit of secret comfort eating whilst pretending to be absolutely fine!
I haven't weighed for ages but I would guess that 10lbs have crept back on - will weigh tomorrow and see the damage.
I tried some trousers on in M&S today and a size 12 fits ok but it used to be a size 10 at my best:(
It was also my 40th birthday yesterday and so I need a new start!
I'll get Xmas over with (family go home on the 27th and I don't do new year so no excuse there) and then climb right back on the wagon if you'll have me?
I'm not going back to class - I'll just plod along with you guys if thats OK?
Hope all are well - have a lovely Christmas!0 -

:santa2: Welcome back welshwoofer! I don't think you'll be the only one getting back on plan after the holiday. I've managed to keep within target since getting there in August but I don't think the mince pie and chocolates I had tonight have helped much:o
Belated birthday greetings!0 -
Hello....
I'm not sure if any of you will remember me, anyway.... I am coming back... After stopping twice to have babies lol, my youngest is now 18mths old and I have flitted about with calorie counting a few months ago, but tbh when trying to cook for a family of 6, it is tricky (and time consuming) to add the calories of every ingredient used, while cooking the main family meal. Saying that I did lose about a stone, but since becoming tired of 'counting' I have probably gained about half of that back!
I have been avoiding the scales the last couple of months so I have no idea of the real damage lol... I will be lurking and trying to get to grips with the plan again, until new year...when I will hop straight back on and will reveal my weight and my goals
Hope everyone is well and has a fantastic christmas and new year xxUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.0
